Go for one of the well known brands and you will be fine. Like LRB said its all about the ABS choice.

Mine is without ABS, I ordered it, it arrived, I undid the to bolts on either side, adjusted the width of the brace, did the bolts up again. Job done and no blood spilt.

My strut has got two extra holes so I could cut into the car to be extra secure but the advice at the time was that it isn't worth the hassle, so I didn't. A couple of years on and it still works fine.

I didn't have any issues with the bonnet.

Here's how it looks:

My bar looks like the one above (chrome) but needed a good hammering in. Seems good now and the bonnet closes. If anyone else has the funny fitting bar my advice is to be careful when closing the bonnet. Keep pressing down/hammering into shape till it closes without feeling like its popping up.
