Tuning Strut bar fitting advice - Please help

I've just studied that picture for a while and I have to say that I would not be happy with that strutcrace:(
The two fittings on each of the suspension mounts should be bolts using both holes supplied not just the one each side. On saying that, on my brace the fittings on either end are deeper i.e. the bracket on mine reaches right down to the top of the chassis legs.
I would not want to tighten that brace up too tight given that you will be relying on just the one bolt each side:(

I have to admit that the brackets did look like a bad fit but now they're hammered into shape (not the best method –*I know) the bar looks okay to me. The central nuts are tight and there isn't any give. If it was bolted twice, wouldn't I have to drill?

If I could just stop the beep. I will have a look at this a bit later. Thanks for all the help. I must be the only person to screw up fitting a strut brace. My girlfriend's mum fears my Barchetta projects now as they always end in disaster and take place on her drive way.

I had my old style strutbrace on my B with just the one bolt at each side SS. I never had any problems under hard driving conditions as well as having the sports shocks and springs fitted at the time.

I did think about drilling for the other bolt but on an Italian car thats just asking for rust.

But the question must be, why were the strutbraces made in that fashion when there were never holes in that location??

Just fitted my strut brace :slayer: Took ages as I'm useless  but driving into work this morning the bonnet kept popping open a couple of inches. Had to hit strut brace again with a big hammer. Bonnet feels like it fits better. Hope its sorted as looked a right tw*t getting in and out of her all the time :D
Big difference in handling though .

I had this problem when i first bought a brace that resembles the one shown.
The best brace is the one from sparco, it bolts into place at two locations .
No need for drilling and should not fawl the bonnet.

Hmmm, I am a little perplexed by the issues that people are having with Strut's........ :chin:

I have a feeling that there may be one or two types that are causing issues, can those who have issues post a piccie? I can understand an issue trying to fit a brace not adapted to ABS to an ABS car but otherwise fitting a brace should be like falling off a log and be very easy (less than 5 mins) to fit....................

Piccies would be good for those who have had issues, please people don't take a hammer to your b - it will only end in tears (and a bit expense bill)........ (y)

I found a strut brace being sold on eBay.de a few weeks ago. With postage to the UK I think it still works out at about £30. I'll see if I can find it again and post it so people can check out whether I'm likely to have any issues with it. To be honest I thought there was just 2 types, with-ABS and without.

Nope, quite a few different ones available, some for cars with ABS some for cars without.............also some manufacturers that you would trust - others you have never heard of!!
