I have a DTR exaust , green filter and use good quality oils.
i use ngk plugs and i supose my B goes well ,over a standard one.

Apart from putting a turbo on, which would be great, and we.l see how the Doc,s turns out. What else could i do to improove the performance.

Are fast road cams avaliable for the B?

Much cheaper option is to tie a brick to your right shoe or foot as driving naked will loose some weight although the brick may be heavier than your clothes :chin: ....... .........tie your right foot to the accelerator with your sock whilst driving naked throw the brick through the windscreen to loose the weight of the glass (y)

Sports CAT+ stainless manifold. Have the manifold heat coated while you are at it.

Thats a good way to spend £600 - £700

Yes you can get hot cams for the B but I would start with the CAT and manifold first as the B has VVT its not that bad in OEM form so not the first thing on the BHP mod list.

Surely hot cams and the variator would not mix.
I mean, basically that is the variators job:)
As for vortex generators......what a load of bulls**t!! Aircraft manufacturers spend millions getting these things perfected on an aircraft that regularly travels at 500mph to achieve fuel savings of 0.002% if they are lucky. A car travelling at 100mph with these things randomnly placed all over the carwould do absolutely jack s**t to performance, mpg or anything else!!

Well, there's chipping it and making sure your air-intake is getting cold air. Wrapping the manifold. I'm not sure a sports KAT makes much difference on a Barchetta, but I could be wrong.

Go on a diet.

A strut brace is cheap, easy to fit and makes the car feel more composed.

In theory lowering the ride height should help a bit with speed, and will certainly help with cornering.

DanGil tried to order fast road cams, but they hadn't arrived after six months so he's cancelled. I think they work with the variator, but ensure the valves open more in any given situation.

I got mine chipped (engine re-map) which made a difference.

I used Angel Tuning for the re-map, they also sell the exhausts and CDAs. I found them to be very good, but there are others too.

I've never done an official test, so I haven't got any reliable metrics. I'd love to do that one day. I also live close enough to the ring to visit for the day, so that's another of my dreams :)

I discussed the re-map with Angel Tuning and we agreed to bias the tuning towards moving the torque lower down the range, rather then peak power, although that should be improved too.

The nearest I could get to a est is a stopwatch and the speedo on a quiet stretch of road, but I've never had the courage to do anything but look where I'm going!

I went to the Schloss Dyke classic car exhibition which involved the use of the autobahn. I only drove at 180 to 190 though because there was too much traffic about. The car felt stable and not too noisy at that speed. I always felt the limiting factor would be running out of revs, not power. I think you can buy a longer 5th gear, I'll look for the link if you're interested.

Matt.

I'd imagine a B would have near identical performance to a hgt, I done this vid awhile ago (Gsr kit, full supersprint, Chipped uk remap),

Just a question?

does the B share the same engine as a punto hgt and which is faster?

Same engine,a bit bigger high speed for the B,less noise for punto, better acceleration for b.
I have both of them,HGT of 2005 and B of 1999.:) :)

And if you had to get rid of one which would it be...........?

The hyundai coupe my wife has(n)

The punto is now driven by my mother ,the B is now only for pleasure driving ,and the hyundai coupe for every day use.

Hi all,

Just made some changes to the B induction.

Since fitting the green filter , it seems to make a slight differene in the performance. Well it sounds like it does. :D

BUT! i always thought that the positioning of it right above the rad and close to the engine head and manifold could not be a good thing.
must be sucking in warm air.

SO! what i have done now, is to use the original ducting which allows me to place the green filter down lower just under the battery tray and in fire of cooler air from the B front vents. I also added a 4" semi rigid pipe collecting cold air from the the center front vent and aimed it towards the filter.

Its been a couple of days since ive done these mods and the B certainly sounds different. Exaust note has changed and hope that this has also had a more positive effect to the perfomance.

Spoke also with the Doc and he said he had also done this at one point and so should be better.

Check out these pics.

I'm pretty sure the gsr kit for the Hgt would fit the B by the look of it.

Whys the B slightly slower? .3 to 60 and 3mph slower top end?
