Technical Fiat engine management Fiat/Polonez 3 connector to OBD2 16pin adaptor

Hello Apostolis,
I hope I will have a final solution by the end of August. (I need to team up with my father who will make the hardware so that will have to wait a bit).
Be sure that I will give it to all once ready. In the mean time all of you could make a request of things you would like to be able to extract from the engine.
For example, I will make a conversion from mm/Hg petrol / sec to mpg.
Think of what you would like (sensibly :D) and let me know so I can try to Include it in the software.(y)

Ok I will think about it and I will come back.

Thanks
Apostolis

Useful things would be:
- Fault code reading ability (to diagnose and clear faults)
- Sensor check (HFM, timing info, temperatures etc)

I now have the ELM 323 OBD - USB cable that supports ISO09141 / KWP2000 protocals.

I still have on order the OBD -3Pin Fiat cable so I cant test it yet.

Free ELM 323 OBD software

Bit Paul Young that, isn't it?

Living in the love of the common people........

'it's a good job you don't have bus fare, it would fall through the hole in your pocket and you loose it in the snow on the ground'..................if I don't find another source of income in by early next year that could be close to the truth

What did you do for a job before it all went pear shaped?

I was a senior project manager for Novell's consulting business in the UK, the business model has changed so future projects will be delivered via partners - I don't fancy working for one of the partners.

Now is a good time for a change, I am good at project management but don't really enjoy it - I have delivered some big and complex projects but never really got a kick from it! Not too sure what next, I would like to start out on my own but not sure what............I doubt that I will go it on my own at the moment but fancy a change in role, maybe run a professional services dept or account management - kinda hanging in the uncertainty of the situation at the moment!

One of my contracts is doing something smiler for Sybase, but for some of the projects I get more involved at a technical level.

Personally I like to stay involved at that level, otherwise it gets to be too much like an admin job.

Anyway, hope you find "where you fit" soon!

Better get back on topic I suppose, before Alan raps us over the knuckles, or worse......

Doc, watching this thread with a lot of interest :)

After having a bit of a poke around on usenet and bittorrent, I found http://www.digimoto.com/home.htm - Digimoto 4.03

Would this be of any use?? If you can let me know the actual titles of some of the software you're after I'll be more than happy to have a hunt around for any of them

Dear "b" owners!

Well first of all I'm due for an introduction now:) I've been reading these forums for quite some time (past ~4months) without participating activele. Found lots of good info - and as far as I can tell, you are a very helpful and nice bunch of people.
I'm a proud owner of a '97 black barch - the base version with no extras. And of course I loooove it very much. :))) Since last summer (when I obtained the car) I've been trying to repair and restore the little faults and do some basic mods...

Well - now the useful part of the conversation:) I just wanted to check if anyone (docorangepeel, maybe?) had the luck to make the diagnostic tools work? I was looking into that myself, but don't really want to invest money into reader/cables/software until I'm sure it will work...

I have everything but the software. The problem is that pre 2003 Bs dont use OBD2. The other issue is that some software that does work needs a DOS computer and two com ports!?! All i can find is new software or real old stuff and nothing that works.

Below is my hardware.

Oh that's a pity:( But if the pre-2003 (2001?) barchettas don't use OBDII what do they use? Is it called simply OBD? How do you know that the hardware you have is suitable for it?
