General So, I was thinking...........

When I first turned up in the office car park my boss thought that I was moonlighting as a hairdresser come beauty therapist!!! :tosser: What does he know - drives a Beemer!!

The B is one of the coolest cars on the road. Let no one tell you different. I'll bet your car gets more looks than the BM.......at a fraction of the cost too:D

I have actually noticed that BM drivers do a lot of gawking at the B.

Guess...:)

I also have a BM and do get more looks in the Barchetta but currently get more looks in the panda :)

doolahrock and Alan.D I totally agree - the B gets a lot of attention, since becoming the proud owner of a B in May I have only seen about half a dozen on the road so quite exclusive.........in fact I went to the Goodwood FOS and although there were acres of Porkers, Ferrari's and Lambo's in the public car parks I could only find one B - and that was mine!!

Not sure if I'm allowed to play anymore as my B is rapidly dissapearing...

Anyhow - I manage a team of body design engineers for Jaguar and Land Rover.

Doogal.

So, Alan.D is either a career criminal, or plod..... Not sure where you'd put your flashing lights on a barchetta, so he must be the former.

As for a job, I've got a small IT company that does web sites, databases, project managment etc.

One of my brothers also works in IT and has got an MX5.

I think the Barchetta is better looking, but I've heard the MX5 is very well balanced.

the MX5 is very well balanced.

Test drove an MX-5 when I was looking for a 2 seater, well balanced and rear wheel drive but does not look anywhere as good as the B (IMHO)...........

Also, big cost difference - I had 3k to spend which bought me a '99 58k miles B with FSH, leather, etc - 3k would only get a '93-95 100k+ miles MX-5 import........

Italian looks vs Jap engineering..........tough one!

The best place to live in the UK is Australia or Canada... need I say more.
Sorry but the UK is a rip off, crime ridden, nanny state that is taxing the crap out of the hard working middle classes.

Dont get me started on the Pay-as-you-go road charge plan ! I am on the A1 at 7:40am so I can get to work so I can eat and pay my taxes, not for fun!!! So why should I have to pay even more !?! Noting like being taxed the nuts off so I can get to work !!??!!

I car share everyday with my friend and drive a 1.6 petrol 2005 that gives me 40-45 MPG with zero BHP :-(but still I pay more and more !!) £50 a tank to fill up now !!

If its the green issue then go kill a cow !! That will do more to save the panet then taking another £5 from me.

Rant over hehehe

Has to said the price of petrol is going mental. gone up about 50 % since i started driving 6 years ago.

Some friends and I are planning a Cannonball Run across the States next year (NY to SF coast to coast).

I was looking at fuel costs per car. A Pontiac G6 which does a fairly terrifying 28 miles to the Gallon will cost pretty much £140 to fuel for 2800 miles or so. Fair enough, you have to kill many innocents to achieve that price but surely there must be a compromise somewhere.

 OK – its Friday afternoon and time for a RANT!!

I am totally fed up off with the way the UK is going, excessive taxation – over 70% on petrol for flip sake plus £40+ for an MOT, then road tax on top plus premium tax on insurance – where will it end! It’s not as if there is a viable alternative for owning a car – where I live there are 2 buses an hour through the village, to get to Tesco you would need to change bus twice!

It’s those of us who can be arsed to work hard that take it in the neck, I am amazed at the sum of money that’s deducted from my wage packet each month in NI and tax, I am fed up with subsidising the lazy scrotes that cannot be bothered to get a job and see nothing wrong with feeding off the rest of society – if you have not paid into ‘the system’ you should not be able to take out….. :bang:

The cost of living in this country is increasing yet the standard of living is going in the other direction, its no wonder so many young people (30’s/40’s) are suffering from health issues – its difficult enough to support a young family on a decent wage let alone have spare money at the end of the month to spend on ‘nice to have’s’……….

Grrrrrrrrr, rant over – for now………….
