Technical HID Headlight Conversion……….

Is it me or in the bottom pic, it looks like you have LHD headlights installed??
And in the top pic, why have you been coating your underside in cuprinol:D

Trick of the light - they are RHD's..........

Ah, the cuprinol can - erm a bit embarrassing but that's full of spanners - really must get myself a proper toolbox - another one on the 'to-do/to-buy' list...........

Fitted a set of white 4600k's. Look good with a blue car and the difference at night is  . Simple to do. basic electrics, screw driver, cable joiners etc. Box of band aids... I'd like to meet the comedian who did the lamp design. Lots of room there isn't.

Agreed - easy to do but lots of band-aids, patience and a disjointed head needed - I will get around to posting a how to with piccies as soon as I stop posting on the FF!!

wanted: multi-elbowed, multi-joined greasemonkey
prospects for promotion after successfull completion of lightbulb replacement exercise.

I just aquired this silver barca, knowing full well that it has a few niggles to sort out -like new (cam)belts, variator, hole-in-footwellfloor-worn-by-heel-of-big-boot-of-previous-owner-to-be-fixed- but i didnt expect it to pop a bulb on my drive home
And from the cursory glance and from the info on 'the net' it looks like it is going to be an "interesting" job. :yuck:

Easiest way to do it is do it from inside the wheel arch (honest), take the wheel off, remove the wheel arch trim and you have a bit more room to fiddle around with the bulbs...............

:D
thanks

well.. its not a hole in the floor (yet), it is the footwell lining material(vinyl, rubber,???) worn out almost to the metal, near the clutch. It conveniently rests the heel of your shoe/boot now. It now screams "put your heel here to operate the clutch". Seems like previous owner(s) never bothered with extra floor covers/protection/mats. :bang:

Ok, personally, i'm not a big fan of extra mats either. They tend to move around when you least want it and hamper operation of the clutch... Although, this might be my experience with cheap Carrefour/Tesco/Halfrauds mats iso expensive made-to-fit-esspecially-for-you from the car/brand dealer speaking

Maybe i should go for those stainless floorboards, if i can find some company around here who'll cut them for me. Meanwhile, maybe i can go to some "exotic" shop and buy some liquid rubber to pour it in the hole :D

My HID conversion worked fine. Hardest part was making and fitting a bracket for the HID transformers. It now blocks access to the back of the light unit so adjustment / bulb change on the mean beams means the bracket has to come off. I found the lights beam needed lowering after HID fitting..lots of irritated users flashing their lights coming the other way.

Worked fine for a week until somebody drove the car off a ramp and smashed both lamp housing and bulb unit..

If anybody is interested I'll put up some pics of the conversion / brackets?

I have found the difference since fitting my HID conversion 'night and day'......

I found the easiest way to fit the ballasts was to remove the inner wing covers and fit the ballast brackets on the inner wing brackets like this..............

It really is a very easy job - you just need to be very 'flexible' to do it!!!!

Something like this? I've got a set of them myself (y) Disregard the Rough Shag Floor Mat Mafia calling you chav for buying them :p

 chavtastic !

will indeed risk the Barca looking like a chaviot :yuck:

so, on second thought... maybe rather not stainless steel, but go for something more .. eh .. traditional ... with a paisley motive maybe ;)

i'll have to think this through very carefully

the mats /floorcovers still hang in the balance :)

but there i was looking for LED lights/bulbs to maybe replace the interior light and vaguely contemplating the idea to have some extra guarding lights when opening the doors .... whatever you call these things in the bottom half of a cardoor on a lotta cars that light up when you open the door - apparently to prevent people from running into your open door at night and optionally shine some light on the ground so you can see where to put your feet when scuttling out of your seat...

anyways, i was browsing "interior lights", and what do we find?

I had my headlights replaced a couple of years ago -- back then when it was -very- expensive ...

Hi barchettanl and welcome to the forum!!

HID conversion is a must, mine is a daily driver and the thought of driving around the unlit roads where I live was enough to drive me to buying a set from Hong Kong. Have to say that they work REALLY well and only cost £50!!
