can anyone tell me how you can tune the engine of a barchetta and what parts you can use

Difficult engine to play with. Van Arken and Novitec have done work on them, but you need to spend serious money.

All I am letting on about mine is that I put a SuperSprint exhaust on and a BMC air filter. I am testing out a CDA and will let you know how good that is soon.

Alfa Romeo 156 2.4 JTD (210BHP)
Fiat Punto JTD (130BHP)

The ECU. Its the old Hitachi ECU from when the 1.8 VVT was in the Coupe back in 1995. You may be able to get a piggyback sort of unit for it.

Induction kits are ok but for this car don't really offer much in the way of performance. If you do do this take all the existing filter housing out and install 2 cold air feeds.

Eco Tek is another thing I am about to try.

Exhausts are the best thing, lighter one.

Let us know what you have done.

is it not possible to transplant a 16vt engine or maybe shoe horn a 20vt block into the barchetta as salvage can be picked up quite a reasonable amount espeacialy for 16vt.

if that is not possible then try searching for the Stola Dedica.
this car is a green coloured roadster version of the barchetta it HAS the 2.0 16v turbo lump @262bhp out of the delta integrale. then search for the Stola abarth Monotipo @ 330bhp this red hardtop sportscar runs the 2.0 16v turbo with traction control!
so i think it has been done lads
and yes they did try the 20v aswell (y)

Clovertech is working on a solution at the moment.
They are working on two different routes. They working on a solution for the Hitachi ECU and and can offer a setup with a standalone ECU
They have a lot of modifications available for the 1.8 engines.
You can get them on 020 8470 7809.
