Hi all, I am considering a Bachetta to replace my Alfa 145, and would like to know do they use much oil? I was wondering as many Alfa 145's use a bit of oil, and some have suffered crank damage as a result.

I just need to know what to look for thats all.

Simon.

There was a thread about that about a month ago or so, so I suggest you have a search in the forum.

Mine uses virtually none.

You will never guess...............mine uses virtually none neither:D especially as its parked up as I'm in OZ at the mo:D :D

Considering that the 4 cyl engine on the B fits approx 4 lt of oil it means that the engine would be dry after 8000 miles. Since the B should change oils every 7.000km ( about 4500miles ) it implies that you would have about 2lt of oil at that time.

Conclusion: YOUR B BURNS OIL!!!

Virtually none in my case means that I have a loss of about 1/4lt at 4500 miles.

Every Hgt I Know of uses oil, you old timers should put your foot down more often(y)

My 1.8 (Barchetta, Punto HGT engine - 1.8 with VVT) uses oil too, but about 1/2 litre every 12,000 miles.

I queried this (our 1.6 Stilo uses none), and FIAT's official line is "Oil consumption of 1 litre every 1,000 miles or under is deemed to be acceptable for this engine". So, mine's well within :D.

Although 12 litres a year, wow!

I never fill up between services, so nomaly use no oil, apart from at the moment when I've got a small oil leak. but even with that the oil level hasn't dropped much. That should be fixed today.

In terms of driving fast, I've recently been told that Italian tuning can be good for the car, but even that din't burn oil, only tires :D
