What oil do you use in your B?
Do you have any oil consumption?
How often do you change them?

My spanner put some Castrol synthetic oil in mine at last service. That's all I know!

Read somewhere that only synthetic oil should be used in a B.

I use Sellenia Gold (10W-40),it is what Fiat promotes here in Greece for her cars.It is semisynthetic and i change it every 5000Km and every 10000Km a new oil filter.I dont usualy have any consumption ,at least not more than 200ml per change.

I'm using Shell Ultra 5W30. Changed the oil and filter a few months ago, and haven't had the need to top it off since.

I use Selenia 20K in my Barchetta. Just changed it Today:) I use it in my 156 and X1/9 as well.

There are stickers inthe engine bay of my B that recommend it.

Selenia semi-synthetic 15W50 and change them and the oil filter every 7500km.
No oil consumption noticed.

15w-50??????????

it should be 10w-40

Temperatures in Greece often go over 40C in summer and when stuck in traffic under the sun things could get even worse. Its not a big difference and i prefer to be on the safe side. 10w40 is recommended for a bit cooler climate than Greece as the UK where some might even go for 30.

In hot weather, you will need oil motor oil of a higher viscosity, because the heat will interplay with the engine to have an impact on the oil. People living in hot areas or changing their oil before the summer should think about oils in the 10W-50 range: the “W” means that the oil is suitable for winter use as well. In cold weather, low viscosity oil is needed, because the cold will make the oil sluggish—10W-30 or 40 is more appropriate. For people in temperate climates, 10W-40 oil is ideal.

Dimitris is from Greece too.:D And he also has a newer car.My HGT (2004 model)also wants 10-40 and now i am testing a 5-40 (Selenia K).

Which Selenia oil exactly do you use?I cant find a 15-50 selenia.

HEHEHE! Bill, I know dimitris :)

The selenia I use is VS VISION 15W-50
Here is a link to the product catalog

I m quite sure it was this they used because I asked for 15W-50.

Next time though, in 4.000km from now I will use the selenia 20K 10W-40 to test oil durability. (and because I love testing stuff :) )
