The fuel tank needs replacing as it's dog rotten,

-Hang on, hang on. - The two Andys doing a fuel tank swap.. - It's deja vu all over again.

It's great unearthing the condition and compiling the list of issues to be addressed. I'm looking forward to getting stuck in and of seeing how it turns out in the end. How soon can we have it out with us in 2016..?

Well I think we'll have to have a weekend in your nice carpetted garage Andy, because it won't stop raining here - with a man of your skill on the job and David as well it should really only take a couple of hours ;)

Thanks for the indicator offer northernchap

Thanks northernchap - we may need that. - I like the idea of help though: Weekend spannering in my garage with supplies of bacon, sausage, tea, coffee, beer, banter and spanners to keep us going.. with everyone welcome to sleep on a floor/camp/pod overnight..

Could be fun and I'd be very grateful.

Ok great, we'll have to get a list of parts we need and then let's get it booked in!

It's all happening too fast! - I had hoped to savour and enjoy this process. Oh well.

I was thinking though - a weekend of spanner twirling should ideally end with it MOT'd and on the road for everyone to test drive shouldn't it..?

Not easy to get an MOT on a Sunday but we could drive it up and down the farm track over the road instead.

Maybe if we get it here and I get stuck into the welding and bodywork jobs while the bolt on and service items are got together ready for the 'Pandaspannafest' then the week after its MOT, snaggs and off to new owner..

By the way - welcome SeanK.

Hey don't feel pushed if you want to do it all by yourself Andy ;)

But otherwise yes there should be no reason that we couldn't get it all ready in one weekend. It would be a good laugh!

A couple more updates, the choke cable is really odd - but I have another standard one to replace it with.

I found out that the previous owner bought the car from our local scrappy for 100 quid, as a non-runner. He's well into his cars, and races Rover Metro's (well someone has to I suppose). But anyway he found out the problem was the carb, totally unheard of, so he swapped the carb for one off a Seat Marbella which was in the scrapyard at the time and it's been running off this ever since. I have no idea if it's the same type, Dragon Man can you advise us on this? The engine rums sweet when it's warmed up, but if we are going to change it I have a spare carb (it will need a good clean though).

The previous owner had this car for nearly ten years, it was put back on the road for another year after he first got it but ever since it's been used at his farm and parked under a lean-to. The registration was sold six years ago for a lot more than the car cost him!

it has a 903 carb running on a fire?? hmm.. as far as i know, the marbella never had the fire engine in it so i have no idea! whatever! it runs!

however i would be interested in how it looks.. does it look like the standard panda carb?

all in all looks like you got a pretty good car.. all this new project talk is making me want to start doing jobs to Fallout..
