Hi all I wonder if you can help, my punto Mk2/2b duologic has a problem with the switch which controls the vent fan and the aircon, To switch the aircon on or off the centre of the switch has to be pushed in, when the aircon is on a tiny light is illuminated in the centre of this switch. The fan speeds are playing up and the centre control will not move. My question is does the whole switch need replacing, if so (and I think it does need to be replaced) has anyone done this do you know the part number and is it only a manufacturer part or are patent parts available thanks for your help

Sometimes those switches lock up because grit has gotten in past the bit that pushes in and out. I would take it out and start tapping it and blasting it with electrical contact cleaner.
Don't know anything about part numbers but would try a scrappy first. The switches are normally very reliable.

Also if over heated the switch can melt internally and maybe why you can't move it any more, this is an area at high risk from fire so get it looked at sooner rather than later

thanks chaps I will remove the switch and have a look .I have tried a couple of scrappies but they only have switches with out aircon control but I have another look. cheers sollie

Most punto's didnt have aircon,

You need to find the higher spec ones with it
Like sportings, HGT (but hgt might be electronic), Maybe even the eleganze model

again though, some had electronic control instead

If it's mk2b you'll need parts from a dynamic or sporting

Hgt and Eleganza models had electronic climate control
And anything with active in the name didn't have aircon

Older mk2(a) models had more options because the climate control didn't exist back then so Hlx Eleganza Hgt models all had manual aircon on those older cars
