Wow, didn't realise they made a Cinquecento with such a small capacity. The engine is smaller than the battery!!

Sorry, can't be any help with buying/ owning it.

Well it was the bigger engine(s) offered in the Fiat 126 (the smaller being the 2 cylinder 652cc version?) ,which was kind of the predecessor of the Cinquecento, sort of... I wonder how they adapted it for the Cinq though because it was originally designed for the rear engine/rear wheel drive layout of the 126.

Cinq 704 is water cooled engine located in front of vehicle with simple adaptation compare to 126 BIS where constructors made an big mistake by fitting radiator next to an engine at rear. BIS was a lot better practical compare to air cooled 652 but case of overheating lost on popularity in own market. Shame coz BIS didn't last long in manufacturing and Cinq 700 cc was only a pay back chucked to polish market as re-claim cost of BIS.

They come in two sorts, one with with a so called fos carb, one with electronic aisan carb. The latter is to be avoided by all means possible. Unreliable and impossible to tune in right. In short, a horrible invention (I know because we used to own one in the family).

There's quite a few of them for sale in Poland (albeit most in a sorry state probably)... fly over, spend a fun weekend and, if you have the balls, buy one and make the trip back! :D

That's simple. There is one version with a mechanical carb (two different ones were mounted, FOS and Weber) and no catalytic converter, and another version with an electronic carb (Aisan) and a catalytic converter. The latter has some sort of an ECU that controls the carb, and this is (IMO) one big misunderstanding of the idea of a carb... The engine is half-boxter if you see what I mean. Top speed I was ever going with it (and I was young and stupid) is 130km/h.

Anyhow, better buy my turbo Cinq mate, will give you much more fun and things to do ;)
