I wasn`t sure where to put this, so here it goes.

I spotted the advert for this Panda earlier. As I`m on a look out for one and it wasn`t too far away, I went to see it tonight.
Unfortunately the car is in bad shape as it has been sitting in someone`s garden for 10 years(n). A real shame as it is a blue Sky edition with twin sunroofs. The number plate is probably worth a fair bit, but the car will need complete restoration.
Anyway, I thought it might be of some interest.

From your description, he's probably asking too much -- although it would be interesting to know what the registration's worth, on its own...! :chin:

The problem with cars like this is that the reg plate can't be transferred until the car is Mot'd. Therefore it's worth nothing unless the car itself is saveable.

The DVLA still have later "SKY" plates for sale at £399 including the transfer costs. While these are no good for a J reg Panda (they have V, X, Y, etc), it does suggest it's a nice plate to have on the car, rather than something with any real inherent value.

In my opinion it adds nothing to the value of a scrapper Panda. Now if it had P4NDA on it I'd hoover it straight up & get someone mot bodge welding it ASAP!! ;)

P.S. No point hunting for that as reg transfers have it for sale at £47500!! I am trying to picture someone who buys a mk1/2 perfect Panda at £6k, or indeed a mk4 at £16k then thinks a £47k plate is good value. Nope, doesn't exist this side of a padded cell......

Well that's odd

Reg transfers allegedly have J9 SKY for sale at £1945! I'm guessing that someone tried (and spectacularly failed) to sell it in the past for a vastly inflated price (most of the plates offered are not owned by the company & I think you can get them to advertise it at whatever price you want). Having failed in that move, our Del Boy forgot to transfer the plate before the mot expired (good move if you believe it's worth more than the car!), then tries to apply similar pricing to the car itself (which will also not sell based on the op's viewing). Yep that will be it! ;)
