Sorry it's taken so long to post! I emailed a few days ago and asked if he had any photos of it being towed and if I could come and test drive it. He replied fairly quickly that it had been driven into a trailer and towed behind his camper, the reply was quite stroppy though and read to me to be written quite defensively as if he's seen our earlier posts on the forum?

I thanked him for his reply and asked again about the possibility of a test drive, he replied that the car has no insurance or tax so no test drives. "The car is spares/repair, hence cheap price"

I emailed straight back that I'm on a traders policy and if I brought proof with me could I have a test drive?

No response since..

Second attempt and I get a reply too......

Quote Quote:
Hi, all I can tell you is that it changed gear when last driven back from the Mot. We've only done a few hundred miles in it as it was used to supplement holiday travel for the motorhome and has now been replaced by a more modern Daihatsu Charade (with air-con!). Like the Charade the Selecta driving characteristics are different from a normal automatic being a CVT as you may know well. It gets off the mark quick but seems to need the brakes to get it to change down in a hurry. Fiat probably thought of that as the selecta discs are bigger that the manual panda. I don't have the experience to say whether the box works to design specification or not and I give absolutely no guarantee with the box or any other bits of the car. It's spares / repairs. If you think the boxes go flakey maybe it's not for you? I'm not bothered either way as it will break for parts for enough to satisfy me. Thanks for your interest.

Seems kind of a harsh reply what's the guys problem? People are naturally going to ask questions.

Sad to think that the lovely Panda I saw at Thoresby Park is now spares/repair only two years later.

But someone who buys a Charade probably doesn't love the poor wee things like we do....

I agree, it's seems a little strange that someone would be prepared to pay good money for a good Panda (it was sold for just over 900) and then not be committed to looking after it properly.
Also, if there is a problem with the car, one that perhaps has led the guy to want to sell, why not let potential buyers know what that problem is rather than just stating "Spares or Repairs" on a car with 12 months MOT?
Personally I think the car deserves better !!

Went for 270, in the end, after 28 bids. Tragic.
