Re: Terra Convertible [1982: no reg.]

It;s the one that has been in Classic car buyer for the last couple of weeks.
The ad there sez it is 18,000 miles, T&T rebuilt engine and 5 speed gearbox.

Wasn't sure the 5 speed fitted to the 900cc pushrod engine it should have fitted but perhaps some vandal has fitted a FIRE engine. At least they haven't painted it green.!!!

I thought the Marbella 903cc came with a 5 speed box, but the 843cc with a 4 speed?

The 903cc Fiat engine certainly coupled to a 5 speed box ok, as I have one in the mk1 VIP. (y)

Re: Terra Convertible [1982: no reg.]

Just goes to show what I know.
I thought the guy I bought mine off mentioned something about a 4 sp box when he was telling me how he scrapped the original eng/box:mad:

Off topic but why were the FIRE engined Bianca's 4 sp?

I'll probably get corrected here, but I think the Bianca was based on the 1000CL. The 1000CL had a 4 speed box, and the Bianca was the same mechanically (trim the same too I think). Lots of the FIRE engined Panda's had 4 speed in the mid-late '80's - the Super had 5 speed as part of its "luxury" spec. Back in those days most cheap cars had 4 speed, with 5 speed being reserved for the social climbers! (y)

Re: Terra Convertible [1982: no reg.]

The daft thing is, I had a Bianca for about 2 years (in the mid 90's) and always thought that it was 5 sp. Except for when I was driving it I hope.
So whenever I have read that there were no 5 speed Bianca's I have tended towards the smug smile thinking I had owned one.
However, last week I asked one of my daughters (who remembers that sort of thing) that very question "4 or 5" and was soundly told that it was indeed 4 speed and how could I have forgotten.

I stand humbled and admonished; though I stand by the wonderful sensation I enjoyed for a couple of months when I thought that 'I was right' and absolutely everyone else in the world 'was wrong'

You were right as long as the 5 consisted of 4 forward & 1 reverse. :D

Liquid Knight had a 5 speed Bianca (y)

Re: Terra Convertible [1982: no reg.]

Yep. My Bianca definitely had five gears. At the time there was only three of us who had five speed gearboxes in our cars. The other two being my mate Jamie who had a Nova SR and Liz who had a Cinquecento Sporting.

Retro fitted. I have owned 3 bianca's... D, E and F reg. I think that covers it.

Re: Terra Convertible [1982: no reg.]

My Marbella (previously 903cc ) and I think the Panda 45 are both 4 speed (forward gears that is :p).

EDIT: Hmmm actually...I just had a thought maybe the Marbella was a 5 speed. Now I can't remember lol

This advert says Bianca's were all 5-speed

That's a mk1 which it says is based on a Super. It's very nice, where can I get one - and I'm not necessarily talking about the car!!!

The mk2 were based on 1000CL models and had 4 speed boxes I think, maybe.......... The how many left site certainly has them as 1000CL Bianca so that would account for the 4 speed boxes.

Could be. When I did a search I even came across a mk3 bianca, that would have to be a 5 speed
