If you're going to be towing an axle about then the prop' will spin. Why not rig it up to a generator and charge a leisure battery with it? :)

I'd use either a Marbella or Mk1 rear axle to reduce drag - turning all that ironmongery inside the 4x4 axle will absorb a fair bit of power.
It should still sit more or less the same with a tubular dead axle anyway.

"No, I'm sorry, but guinea pigs will never be able to get it moving, let alone run with it!!!!"

- not sure Palio, from the quantities of spinach Mini and Pumpkin get through, I think with a long enough draw bar they're in with a shout. Even with a diff, alternator and (why not- wind generator) attached.

Now I'm off to eBay to search "Guinea pig chariot harnesses, used".

Is it me or is this thread heading off in a surreal direction?:yum:

You can free the axle easily enough.

When taking apart the rear assembly don't undo the two 10mm bolts that hold grease seals in the ends of the hub. Pull the wheel bearing and the half shafts should pop out as well. Undo the 10mm bolts to free the shaft from the bearing. Replace the bearing and retrofit the brakes.

You'll need to replace the wheel cylinders with blocks so the handbrake works from the tow hitch. That's a matter of adapting the standard cable and attaching it to a trailer brake mechanism mounted on the "A" frame up front. Pretty simple. :)

what i was going to do was completely remove the heavy rear axle and weld some box section to the base of the car.. then mount >>These<< to it. mod some wheels so that they fit the hubs or find some panda type hub or make it so a panda 2x4 wheel bearing / hubs fit it and use that.

that way you have a spare rear axle for... "playing" with..

*ahem difflock..*

its a trailer so you can go nuts..

Quick update on this half project.-

Inspired by Cadillac Ranch (and interestingly, with help from The Panda Farm)

My back garden looks like this at the moment-

Mods- please re-orientate my lawn.

Glad you got it back safely! Have to admit i'd be tempted to lean it up against the front/side of the house :D that would get a few double takes  :D

Update photos.

This is just a mock up, but the idea looks good, to my eyes at least.

Bad news on the rust though. Floor and more importantly the side rails are pretty rotten, plus one rear corner of the roof. I'm thinking this isn't the half Panda shell to use..

Not yet at the cosmetic stage, and progress towards it is being hindered by too many other interesting projects (mainly notional) distracting me. -You know how it is.

However, in an effort to make some positive progress I did buy a new draw bar today.

Now where did I put the guinea pig harnesses and tow ball..?

Paperweight came from next door neighbour's Focus after his experiment not to check the oil level concluded.

..It didn't work though, and the half Panda blew away one windy evening. To a bamboo shoot rich yard in the sky. Probably.

But now we have a new challenge:

Advice please forum friends - how would you deal with this awkward growth on the patio?

Weedkiller, plucking by hand, or burning with a flame?

Oh, and that shell in the background,
20140523_204346.jpg
too.

- I know. Why do all my gallery photos post upside down?

Is it from a phone?

All my phone ones went upside down until I discovered that the iPhone is right handed (and I'm not!!! ). If I hold it as a wrong hander would with the capture button on the right, all my photos stay the right way up! :bang: I prefer the button to go to my left hand for obvious reasons but then they all go all Aussie.
