In reality, £3k is not outrageous - this is basically a 20 year old new car with that service history.

If we keep repeating statements such as "a CLX is not worth x" then they never
will be valued and even more will continue to be lost.

Attitude change perhaps ?

Like anything else....it's worth what someone will pay for it. Betty is more my cup of tea than the clx.

For me it goes on rarity... My old VIP is arguably right up there with the rarest of rare pandas...worth the same as the clx??? Worth less??? Worth more???

Horses for courses I guess...

I know what you're saying... -- and a large part of me agrees with you (for example, the 750, with 1,500 miles on it, certainly seemed -- to me -- like it was worth £2,995 (but not the £3,995 that was originally being asked for it...)).

However, for whatever reason, if this one sells for its asking price: then either (1) it's a bit of an outlier, or (2) it's the car that finally pulls our beloved Pandas towards what they should be going for, compared to some other cars of a similar vintage.

I certainly don't buy Pandas for their investment value, though (and there was a good article in this month's Practical Classics about the vagaries of the classic car market...) -- and I suspect not many would/do. They are -- as the wise man said -- only worth what someone will pay for them.

I also sort of agree with this. But it is market forces (boo hiss) that make prices go up and down; and as we know from the lack of interest in magazines such as that above (which is a little too Anglocentric for my tastes...), most folks ain't in tune with our little band of enthusiasts.... :nutter:

As our cars continue to get rarer, though (Kevin's Bianca being a very good example; not to mention Betty, as a very early Mk2...), they will go up in worth, in the public's eyes -- as well as monetary value (if we don't keep saving them all...)! (y)

I think we're all just being realistic about what most people see (if we're being honest) as quirky boxes of rust. Luckily, I have a partner and a step-daughter who also think they're the cutest cars ever designed; and appreciate them for what they are... -- I still think they would be a bit shocked, at the moment, to pay £3k for one, though... -- even if it's perfect.

Just my $0.02.... (And thanks to everyone for joining in the debate. It is, after all, a relatively serious issue for us... -- even though the thread was titled a little tongue in cheek....) :)

The days of affordable classic Pandas is over. :(

I told you it would happen.

They'd start making 500 and 126 prices soon.

My Fantasia is insured with an agreed value of over £3,000 so it was only a matter of time before the classic traders rather than enthusiasts got with the program.
