Reinforcement plates will need to be welded into the floorpan, and rear arches. Thicknesses of the plates are specified in the log book for the cage.

I would say any monkey with a welder could fit the plates

Yes I would strip out everything around the areas you are going to weld for obvious reasons. Nobody likes to set fire to their own car :devil:.
