See http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2416743477&category=9843 for details of what appears to be a Panda with rust-free doors ...

I wonder ...

Steve the geriatric Panda owner

(Me or the car? Actually, you're right on both counts ;))

I've emailed the vendor and asked him the obvious question. At the time of posting this message, the current bid is £56. I'm getting sorely tempted ...

Oh, and I almost forgot:
B-button.gif
B-button.gif
rule!

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

"Beware the CLX, my son!
The gears that bite, the clutch that catch!
Beware the Jubjub ECU, and shun
The frumious Catalyser!"

He took his MOT sword in hand:
Long time the FIAT foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Pandacar, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The MOT blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

"And, has thou slain the Pandacar?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

Stanley Unwin?
Vogon poetry?
Spike Milligan?

Gis a clue!

3 hours to go and it's up to 113.21

I don't think it's going to be a gift at the end.

Watch for catalyser costs, Steve:
early CLX one is over £228
later is over £122

according to

https://www.sapmotorparts.com/shop/english/

then there's the Lambda sensor... a gift at about £50

I shan't see it finish though - I'll be nursing mine home from work with a hole in the top hose. [:(!]

Nasty. Have you got some gaffer tape to wrap around as a temporary measure?

Paul

Well, unless Steve is using a rather odd handle on Ebay { berrynarbour(51) - surely not :) } it doesn't look like he went for the Panda.

Which sold for the last bid at 20:45 of £113.21 ( not including postage and packaging :D:D - would you trust parcelforce with a Panda [?] )
I really had expected a bit more bidding in the closing minutes.

Anyway, I suppose I'll have to have a look at that hose before long ;)

Paul, thanks for the suggestion of the the tape.
But I decided to top it up cold ( 1/2 pint or so) put the heater on so I could tell if it suddenly lost too much, and just go for it, as the leak was under the dizzy where the oil has dripped on the rubber pipe: so no easy access, no chance of tape sticking either [:(!]

The biggest nuisance was getting through the Broad street traffic (mostly pedestrian, half cut, half naked, etc - the Women are no better, either :D )
It took about 10 mins just to join the street, and get to the next left (less than 100 metres).

That sounds very awkward [V] Best of luck! And can you report the cost of the replacement hose please? It would be interesting to know :)

I know it well, but avoid the area at all costs!

Paul

Bearing in mind this is the FIRE engined version - it's not too bad with one of those flexible drive nut spinners to undo the jubilee clip on the thermostat.
The other end has a big spring clip arrangement.
It all came off OK - there's a pin hole down by the thermostat end, which doesn't look like oil damage after all: just old age on the hardest working hose in the system - hottest water, and most flexing.

Can't get an exact fit today - the universal crinkly ones with a wire coil inside are about a tenner, but their inside diameter is a few mm too big.
It would probably do as a bodge, but I'll go to work in the Morris 1000 today ( it's bit warm for me flat cap tho' ) and get on the phone tomorrow AM, as it's a day off.

Will update with cost of correct FIAT hose as and when.

Cheers, and best of luck! ;)

Well I wondered if I was going to get one today - all the usual suspects were talking 1 to 2 days.

Grays in Warwick had it on the shelf :)

£9.54 inc. VAT.

Fitted a treat. Cheaper than the bodge. Result [8D][8D][8D]

You'd be in the hospital or infirmary
'Cause you would have a dose of the flu or even pleurisy
If you didn't have your feet in your wellies

Oh wellies they are wonderful, oh wellies they are swell
'Cause they keep out the water and they keep in the smell
And when you're sitting in a room you can always tell
When some bugger takes off his wellies

If it wasn't for your wellies where would you be
You'd be in the hospital or infirmary
'Cause you would have a dose of the flu or even pleurisy
If you didn't have your feet in your wellies

Oh and when you're out walking in the country with a bird
And you're strolling over fields just like a farmer's herd
And somebody shouts, "Keep off the grass" and you think how absurd
and SQUELCH you find why farmers all wear wellies

If it wasn't for your wellies where would you be
You'd be in the hospital or infirmary
'Cause you would have a dose of the flu or even pleurisy
If you didn't have your feet in your wellies

There's fishermen and firemen, there's farmers and all
Men out digging ditches and working in the snow
This country it would grind to a halt and not a thing would grow
If it wasn't for the workers in their wellies

If it wasn't for your wellies where would you be
You'd be in the hospital or infirmary
'Cause you would have a dose of the flu or even pleurisy
If you didn't have you're feet in your wellies

Oh Edward, Heath and Wilson they haven't made a hit
So you'd better get your feet in your wellies

If it wasn't for your wellies where would you be
You'd be in the hospital or infirmary
'Cause you would have a dose of the flu or even pleurisy
If you didn't have you're feet in your wellies
