£6000 UNO with ICE ICE ICE

Thanks for all your negative comments.

I'm very understanding that its not to everyone's taste, i am quite happy for people to say they don't like it, i just want people to appreciate the work I did, by myself, not just chucked a load of money at some shop.

Jai quite nice of you to write that, sorry you don't like it.

The car was build as a demo car for a company (hence only the 1.4 ;)), Direct Ice, and if any of you in this thread who are happy to take the **** did something like this when you were 17/18 please post away, i would imagine you won't thanks again.

Adam, I think most people thought you were dreaming asking £6k for an Uno with a big stereo, when an Uno alone is worth £250.

Just to clear this up, i do in no way want 6K for it, more like £2500-3000, but i was told to put it on at 6 just for the sake of it, been offered £2250 but i can afford to wait so i will. :)

:yeahthat:

Remove the stereo and it's just a clean and tidy 1.4 mk2 Uno.

Though the ICE installation looked to be of a high quality, the number of items used was way over the top in my opinion and built more for show and DB's than for sound quality. It is just too excessive, which is why a lot of people don't like it. A decent sound system doesn't NEED that much to sound good.

That's why I said I'd have the car minus the stereo, which is probably worth £500 tops. The exterior is actually very nice looking and tastefully done but I just wouldn't pay the extra £5.5K for a stereo that I don't need.

You also have to bear in mind when building a car like this that it is going to be a Marmite situation. It's extreme, so some will love it and a lot will hate it, that's something you will need to accept. I'm sure you built it to take to sound off shows or such like where you will find people into that kind of thing but the average person on the street won't be so accepting.

I've no idea how much it cost to build but there's a golden rule with modifying/ customising/ restoring - you hardly ever get back what you put into a project. You don't buy a £500 car, spend £5500 on ICE and expect to get £6K for it. You might be lucky and find a buyer who WILL pay that but you are catering for a very small niche market.

Lower the price to a more realistic level and you probably will find a buyer. Good luck :)

Right now try to read what i wrote above.....

It was a show car.
I don't want 6k for it.
It was meant to be a loud DBDrag car that attracted people at shows.

Cost me £2500 in total including the car for the whole build as you asked, doing it yourself FTW. ;)

I did. After I'd posted my response to Pottleflump! You hadn't posted your last reply when I was originally responding, and I took a while because I was eating dinner. By the time I'd finished and posted my response you had then already posted your reply.

Ok, the title of the thread said "£6000" and the original Ebay advert said £6000". So going by that I took it that you, um, wanted £6000?

As you said, it's a SHOW car which means it's built to be seen/ heard and that means talked about. As I also mentioned above a car like that will be loved by some and hated by others, plus people WILL be vocal when it comes up in a discussion. That's something you have to learn to live with when building a show car and not be so sensitive when it garners criticism. There's no way you can please everyone or cater for everyone's tastes.

I did commend you on what looked like a quality build rather than the average bodge job. The £2500 price is more realistic though I still think it's high UNLESS you find the right buyer. As you said, it's been built for loud DB, so by that I take it that volume is the ultimate goal rather than as a listening to music experience. So again, you're aiming at a very small market as such a car is not exactly practical for every day use.

I wish you luck and hope you do find the buyer who will pay you what you want for it. :)

yuck, poor, poor uno (n)
i can make this a good car tho, step 1, rip 99% of the ridiculous amount of speakers out, step 2, rip out the boot build, step 3, remove all the f***in ice out of the poor car except for perhaps a cd/mp3 player, 4, put a rear seat in, and you have a nice uno. even if it isn't a turbo

exterior looks gorgeouse.
interior looks gorgeouse with the seats.
BUT majour but...for god sake remove all of them 1 million speakers on the doors and rood and boot. a excellent looking car ruined by speakers and all that ice imo.i prefer my standard 6 speakers that decide to crackle now and then:).if i bought that car id tell him to remove all that ice off personaly.

at a press conference earlier today, jais spokesperson read out a pre-prepared statement:

spokesperson said:
i wish it to be known, that Adams kind words have touched me deeply, and i reciprocate the feeling in a totally hetro manner(y) as for others wishing to also employ a spokesperson, i have "no comment"

This is what i mean.... try my version:

Hi there
I find certain aspects of your car un-tasteful, however I do believe i have the ability to make your car look considerably better than your attempts. I would set about this task in the following manner:

Step 1: Remove, with great care, around 99% of the ICE which is fitted to said vehicle.

Step 2: Continue with this removing fashion on the boot area.

Step 3: Remove, with great care, around 99% of the ****ing ICE which is fitted to said vehicle. I would however find that keeping the CD player and installing a rear seat advantageous, this i believe would create a nice Uno, although it still would not be a Turbo.

I would also like to point out that my car of choice is a Fiat Seicento, I have an array of tasteful modifications including but not limited to:

Tights on my rear lights

A red and black interior, highlighted with bits from the dash painted orange.

An ill fitting exhaust

:)

:)

meowwwwwww

right smart ass, if the red and black interior doesnt go with the orange, why put it on a black and orange car to begin with?, the orange is an ode to the outside colouration. im not the only sei with orange trim and red seats, difference is i plan to re-trim my seats in black and orange piped leather..

the tights are a temporary measure, but do look good anyway when done right, or have been on the car a while as they loose the matt look.

the exhaust looks good in real life, photos don't do it justice, people at the perth meet will see that.

all in all its a work in progress, ever heard of that?

now jog on ya walloper (y):p
