if it thickens the blood wont they just give the patient warfarin to thin it down again:confused:

As I said its a very simple way of trying to explain something very complicated.

Sepsis (and its thought that covid causes a viral sepsis) leads to a condition called Disseminated intravascular coagulation, where the blood initially clots, (you use up all your platelets which causes clotting) and then this leads to uncontrollable bleeding as your blood will no longer clot without sufficient platelets.

Warfarin works on Vitamin K and the clotting factors derived from vitamin K, so without platelets and having had a load of warfarin, you're going to have and even more serious problems with uncontrollable bleeding.

well done to all those in the south Pacific. It still only takes one 'visitor' who dosn't obey the rules to start it all over again which is one of the problems in the UK apparently liberty is more important than survival.
Our office is now closed down since the youngster from Manchester was discovered with the virus, we now have 3 other cases, (which makes our local R number 3!) so everyone has been sent away to isolate for at least 14 days or until this lockdown ends or until January or until a vaccine is available, who knows..........

Thanks for that, he was just brilliant.

Sadly, so many people's grasp of language mimics this now.

Yes indeed. I’ve always had an interest in language, dialect for instance can be so entertaining. Although I was brought up in the North East of Scotland, I was taught to speak properly, I obviously had the twang, but sounding my words fully and clearly. In my view, and I have The ability to laugh at myself, the way some speak these days irritates the hell out of me :D The worst for me is a toss up between up speak or focal fry, highly irritating, and it’s everywhere now.

Yes I can hear some now.....language evolves, well yes, but it’s still irritating at times. I shall stop because I may get carried away...:D

My Mum was always pulling us up on our speech, Correct and clear pronunciation and especially not dropping our "h"s. I think it's stood me well in later life because it's allowed me to present myself well at job interviews etc.

Have you listened closely to Biden? I'm trying to make up my mind whether he slurs and shortens words due to his local accent, age related articulation of words or some other factor? Or am I imagining it?

On the subject of Biden, what do people think about him as a next president? I can’t believe I’m saying this but Britain may be better off with Trump, yes I did say that didn’t I ?!!!!!! Biden has come out and said future trade deals with the UK are unlikely due to brexit and our handling of things. For a future president he strikes me as a puppet on a stage having someone pulling the strings while staying out of sight. I find him rather odd.

I’m really interested what people think. Thankyou. :)

Biden will be normal. Not an Obama, but normal.
So, a refreshing change to the orange crook.
