Re: Coronavirus - The Thread :(

I'm spending a lot more during lockdown than when it is not, since I have nothing to do I always spend my time shopping online.

Me too, but weirdly despite having bought a lot of new stuff, I seem to still be better off as Iíve not been paying the daily commuting costs and daily lunch costs and not eating out so much, not having takeaways and even now I make my own dinner for work and bring coffee from home rather than risking going in to pay £3 for a coffee so Iíve definitely saved a fortune

Re: Coronavirus - The Thread :(

We've been back doing our weekly supermarket shop for a couple of weeks now. All through the lockdown, and for a bit afterwards, our oldest boy did our shopping for us because he was/is terrified we are going to catch the virus.

We never really make a detailed list to take with us, just wander round the shelves taking what we need, so making a list for him was quite a novelty. Whilst he's been doing the shopping we've saved an absolute fortune and we realize now that its because we are not picking up all the "rubbish" we usually do! Crisps, the odd chocolate bar, two instead of one pack of choc chip cookies, etc, etc. We are resolved to make, and stick to, a list from now on. Wonder if we'll manage to keep to it?

We are kind of the same Jock, but my daughter tends to put some ďgoodiesĒ into the shopping basket, but thatís fine. If Iím honest we have never eaten so well before. Weekend was wine and a nice meal, but we are nearly doing this seven days...

Re: Coronavirus - The Thread :(

I saw a little of the TV news yesterday

Issues in the N.W. of England

Scotlands 1st minister advising scots to stay away..and if already there.. limit exposure..ideally shorten your stay

On my m.way commutes they are telling you all m.way services are open ..dont drive tired..
Are the M6 services through the region staying open ?
(I Have made a point of NOT STOPPING on my trips.. so am not sure if all the 'catering' is now reopened )

All you really need is the loo, and the pasty wagon outside.

Now who remembers Pink Stamps?

Back in the day, Tesco was the big grocery store promoting Green Shield Stamps. At the time, one of their big competitors was Fine Fare, who offered the competing Pink Stamps as an alternative.

Then Kwik Save came along, introducing the concept of discounting, and Tesco abandoned Green Shield in favour of price reductions, forcing the scheme to be run down. The Green Shield redemption stores were reinvented/rebranded and became Argos.
