Along with that last Green Shield Stamp book that was not quite enough to do anything with.

Now who remembers Pink Stamps?

Back in the day, Tesco was the big grocery store promoting Green Shield Stamps. At the time, one of their big competitors was Fine Fare, who offered the competing Pink Stamps as an alternative.

Then Kwik Save came along, introducing the concept of discounting, and Tesco abandoned Green Shield in favour of price reductions, forcing the scheme to be run down. The Green Shield redemption stores were reinvented/rebranded and became Argos.

Great memories of Pink stamps.
My mother for some time was a hospital car service driver. Lots of miles each week, ferrying outpatients to/from hospitals in a 1964 Austin A60. Each weekend we'd sit at the dining table and stick vast numbers of pink stamps into books.
The garage had them on a roll, 5 across to fit the book columns, and you got one row for each gallon. But most places did triple or quadruple, so four rows per gallon, which was, I think, quarter of a page. Each tankful would be at least two pages, and that was at least twice a week. Try licking that lot.

Co-op did their own stamps for a while, blue ones.

remember them well worked for fine fare on the south coast from hove down to portsmouth youngest ast man on the company.left andjoined pricerite super markets doing green shield. 60 hrs a week not long been married with a son who when his dad picked him up screamed. through it all in and went into gardenmachinery, mowermender70

Aye the Darva Moor stone, it’s been many a year that I’ve been in that neck of woods. It’s a bit of a bleak place, and if you found yourself driving there in the winter it’s even worse

The subject of stamps I remember very well. There was a pink stamp shop at the top of King Street in Aberdeen full of household items you could change depending the number of books you had accumulated Anything half decent required loads of books. We stayed in a wee village 10 miles North of Aberdeen and the Co op van came round, I remember being sent out with a list, and after paying I gave my mother’s dividend number. Anyone remember the *divi* Our milk was delivered by the Co op as well and every Friday the milk man required the number.

At the end of the year my mother received money or tokens to the tune of a percentage of what was spent. I still remember the number to this day. :D

The inscription does change from time to time.

Currently, it's rather topical, and may even help to bring this thread back on topic.

Yesterday did a rally/visit with Car Club here in Brittany.
We were all told several times before the Rally by E-mail to follow the Social Distancing and wear Masks.
Well for the first Hour of the Rally most people wore Masks.
During a visit to a Religious place with Nuns the guide Sister said she always washes her hands and everybody could take their Masks off.
Most of the Group took their Masks off, now i don't know if the Sister/Nun had prayed to protect everyone.
During the visit me and my Wife keep the Masks on.
Today we cancelled the next Rally/Visit with the Car Club.
It seems that not everyone can get it into their Heads the saftey precautions/rules concerning COVID19.
The only Country that have their heads screwed on are NZ with only 22 deaths.

When shopping earlier, leaving the store there was a family entering. Parents and two boys. Older boy wore a mask, as did the parents, but the younger boy, I guess around 6-8 years old, was just holding his hand across his mouth.

I wonder if he'd be able to maintain that throughout, or will he then touch stuff with that hand? Isn't that worse than just no mask? Swindon's infection rate is currently climbing, I think I know why.

Kids under the age of 11 shouldn’t be wearing masks, so if the kid decided to put his hand on his mouth then that’s his choice, but really by not wearing one the family were doing the right thing.

Even better would have been for the children and one parent to have stayed at home and just one parent gone shopping.

No accounting the human psyche, people will do anything they want for various reasons. Some people seem to think that it’s safe enough for them. In Scotland where we have been not too bad the virus is popping up again, no surprises as the pubs are opening and, well, it’s pretty much obvious what’s going to happen, we all have been warned.

My wife and I have taken the situation very serious indeed and have been in lock down since before the official lock down mainly for family circumstances. I’ve witnessed pockets of people right through this sorry state of affairs out and about and disregarding any lock down measures what’s so ever right from the start, both North and South of the border.

Rant over, going a bit stir crazy....:D
