No personal experience, I'd heard that Superdrug were offering this test so googled and this was the link that came up. (the actual Superdrug site is currently showing the kit as N/A due to high demand)

I'd like to take the antibody test at some point as like yourself I had some unusual, although mild, symptoms a couple of months ago, but will probably wait until the NHS recommends a particular kit.

i'd be interested to know what one @Cinq999 used if his doctor has looked over it and not raised any concerns. I too had a bad cold with loss of smell just before covid 19 was officialy in the UK. Its left me with a bit of trouble breathing ever since, Dr sent me for an xray that was clear as far as he could tell and referred me to a specialist, but obviously they are ultra busy atm so not had an appointment through. would be interesting to know if it was just a cold or not.
It wasn't that one.....I went direct through a lab that is using the approved Roache testing......plus it cost me £135.

My doctor took my blood sample for me.....I don't bleed easily, so those fingerprick tests don't work for me.....so I arranged for him to take a vial's worth, then when results came back I emailed them to him so he could look over the specifics.

He himself was fairly sure beforehand it was Covid19.......I've never experienced anything like it in my life..... stabbing pain in my throat, coughing every 30 seconds day and night for well over a week, fever, banging headache, pain in all my muscles, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of taste and smell, after a few days felt like I was breathing in 100% humidity air..... struggle to fill my lungs, then coughing up lots and lots of phlegm.

I'm obviously still going to follow all the social distancing guidance etc.....better to be safe than sorry.

The doctor is going to phone me tomorrow with some more info..... possibly look at doing another test in the coming weeks to see the affect on level of antibodies over time.

I imagine so.....just checked, its Roche......the Roche test is the one that PHE and the NHS have approved as being up to standard, although the test by Abbott has also been approve.

From The Guardian newspaper this evening:

"Public Health England (PHE) validated two laboratory-based antibody tests from Swiss-based Roche and US-based Abbott last week, and another – from the Welsh firm Ortho Clinical Diagnostics – this week.

Meanwhile, a private testing bonanza looks set to take off, with private GP clinics and the high street chemist Superdrug offering antibody tests supplied by Abbott for sale to the public.

Ortho Clinical Diagnostics’ newly PHE-approved test outperformed the other two. Ortho, based in Cardiff for 40 years, says its test is 100% specific for Covid-19, which means it does not confuse the antibodies produced in response to the virus with those from other coronaviruses, including the common cold. Roche’s test has been validated by PHE as 99.8% specific and Abbott’s as 99.6% specific."

How thick and hypocritical are them reporters and photographers hounding the adviser who broke the rules.I don't think the adviser was right but we will never know the truth as usual. but we can all see the others breaking the rules they should all be fined.

People, right or wrong, have been gunning for Cummins for years and now smell blood. I agree with you Dave, the hypocrisy with this feeding frenzy is shocking.
Let's imagine he did break the rules. How is it in the public interest to deliberately, repetitively and loudly shout about it undermining public willingness to follow the rules when if the media just shut the f up there would be no undermining and the government as a whole could get on with the biggest crisis in modern times.
Even Labour are holding back a little, for once, as this is not the time for plotical shouting.
That can come later.

The press have no right to complain considering most of them will have been traveling the country with a team for work throughout the whole period

Whatever the rights or wrongs of the situation, Cummings,Johnson and their fellow-travellers have scored a blinder with the way they have handled this one; what a genius way to outrage the population so as to motivate them out of their "addiction" to lockdown.

This is an interesting viewpoint: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQ-ATT_Cd6M&t=328s
Brings a little light to the end of the tunnel.

With so much 'information', I have a snippets in my memory, that stick as they seemed important or interesting at the time. The virus attaches itself to cells using proteins or chemicals (or something similar) in the cells in our oesophagus. Those proteins are either non-existant, or significantly less prevalent in younger people, meaning the virus fails to get a hold. This is why few children have contracted the disease, and why it might be low risk for them to return to school. Also explains why we're starting with the younger children. Will the parents be able to social distance at the school gates?
Not heard anything about them being carriers though, but probably low risk for same reasons.

Don't blame the politicians, blame the press. They're more interested in making money from a story than doing what's in the best interests of the people.

If it does encourage the population to compromise on social distancing, turning this non-event into front page headlines will likely cost thousands of lives.

very young kids that still listen to parents have been kept indoors mostly for the last 2 months so that could also be a factor in why less kids have got it.

Some of the kids that have got it have got it really bad and with a secondary illness after.

No everyone at the school gates are young parents, before the lockdown many kids were taken and dropped off by grandparents as parents had to work.

Whats going to be harder is the trip from the car parked half on the footpath with a row of others the same, no one is going to be able to pass each other 2m apart.

That could easily be fixed if he was sacked for breaking the rules. and the reporters seen on camera bunching together also fined.

Even his excuse was against the rules, they said if anyone in the family has symptoms the whole family has to isolate and don't leave kids with their elderly grandparents who are at a greater risk.
Boris sounds more and more like trump everyday with his excuses for his mates. He is a very dangerous man.

Sorry JRK - can't disagree with you more. This is in the public interest as it's at the heart of government who are making some critical decisions for the nation. There are many who have not been able to attend loved ones funerals and will have to manage the mental consequences for a long time. They abided by the lockdown. I'd imagine DC would have a large social circle or HMG support in London rather than having to drive all the way to County Durham to stay on his Dad's farm. Cmon - don't treat the public as mugs - PLEASE!

Don't understand how this coverage will likely cost thousands of lives? What is likely is that HMG dithering and inaction in February and March has cost lives and damage to the economy - reference The Telegraph's recent analysis. As we all know a rabid left wing anti - government rag
