When I was working up in Svalbard, I found a lot of the staple foods had Vitamin D added to them..... they said rather than taking supplements every day, it was easier just to add it to the food.

My dad has also been sent the Vit D supplements by the government. He's hardly been out of the house all winter, so good idea to keep it topped up.

Certainly up in my neck of the woods we get quite a lot of sunshine, the daylight is earlier up here as well. Even in winter months we get sunshine, certainly where I am slightly north of Inverness. We do get ice and wind, but sunshine is there.

Spoke to a dear friend earlier. She's 88, normally quite fit, walks a lot despite needing a stick. Had her first vaccine over a month ago, now feeling 'a bit under the weather'. Was given a covid test, positive, so has to self isolate for a fortnight. Lives in a block of 'assisted living' flats, so plenty of scope for transmission.
She talked on the phone for 10 minutes, no shortness of breath, happy as she always is. Symptoms, tummy feeling upset, loss of apetite, can't sleep.

It is reported that after two weeks from vaccination, few catch it, but those who do it is is very mild. Seems to be the case here. With her age, if she'd not had the jab, I think we'd lose her. A sort of good news/bad news story, with the emphasis on the good bit.

I guess every country is entitled to their own "Wappies" (virus deniers/conspiracytheorists/antivaxxers). We have them too in NL.
Only way to stop this virus and new variants is to stop the spread. And since spreading is done by people...
