Coronavirus - The Thread :(

We had ours a few weeks ago.

It was meant to be at TECA in Aberdeen - 20 miles away - but managed to rearrange it online at a local surgery 4 miles away. Only problem was i got the clotting one (forget the name, the Oxford one?) and was badly ill (tired/sore and generally spaced) for a few days afterwards.

In fact the first night i got up at 1AM and puked...might have been the bottle of wine i had though as it came out red...!

That seems to line up with how i understand it works. We got ours at the Leth local community treatment centre where i'm sure they would have the refrigeration needed to keep the pfizer product - and that's what we got. My oldest boy, his wife and my younger boy's essential worker wife all got jagged at local surgeries where I would think there was not the required refrigeration on site and they all got the Astra Z. which i think is the one which has the bad press about the clotting.

As i understand it the Pfizer is known for a gentle, or no, reaction to the first jag and then it "hit's you second time round - which is how it got me. The Astra Z, I believe is the other way round with the first one making you poorly and the second much milder. Seems to be what you are experiencing?

Hi,

i got AstraZeneca which is the discussed vaccine a couple of weeks ago. i experienced some side-effects but all of them were quite harmless. My brother who got Biontech/Pfizer has been ill for a week.
The side-effects depend widely on the concerned human's biological system, i think. In general, the side-effects prove that something is happening in your body. I'd be alarmed if i didn't have any.

All the best to all of you

The health centre where we (me & Mrs C) got our jabs has been giving both Pfizer and AZ jabs and you got what they had when you went for your 1st jab.
Mrs C went 5-weeks before me and got Pfizer, I went 5-weeks after her and got AZ.

It was purely down to what they had at the time.

Hi Jock.
Tell him to just go to a local centre and explain the situation.
They will take him.
My wife is a red cross volunteer and she has been working at the centres and thats what they do in Ayrshire.

Today was a childminding day so we were out at my boy's all day. He was doing preparatory work today, arranging digital prints and materials and other "sign writer" stuff I wouldn't know about, so we saw quite a bit of him as he does his prep work in his home office. Consequently I had the opportunity to make your suggestion to him and he's going to give it a go tomorrow. So, watch this space. I'll let you know how it pans out for him.

Thanks again for the suggestion.
Jock

Panda Driver received 2nd AZ dose on Sunday.. she received a letter 10 days before and a text reminder 2 days before

I had the letter with hers.. but my 2nd is this Saturday.. just had my reminder text

Apparently there was ZERO CHANCE of any couples being jabbed together..

The facility is 8 miles of scenic A road away.. the building is at the roadside and shares a carpark with the railway terminus.. all works very smoothly

And you only need sit for 5 minutes if you are not driving.

Got my 2nd done, made my arm ache for a couple of days but that's it no drama. But it would appear that even with2 jabs done and an all clear I still have to isolate when I get back from Porky, makes you wonder why we bothered sometimes.
for a giggle I had a laugh with the staff and got a couple of pictures taken - just to prove what a brave soldier I am. . .

Being vaccinated doesn't mean you can't still be a carrier, just means your immune system should be able to fight it.

Had my second jab today in Ticehurst. Very well organised and out in 10 minutes.

There was a guy arranging the parking in the Village Hall car park and he was happily directing cars by marque. Consequently, I parked amongst a trio of 500’s [emoji1360][emoji40][emoji23]

Surprised to hear today that my sister (who lives in Denmark) and her partner haven't had any jabs yet.
She is 48 and he is a little older I think.

So they are well behind the UK with their rollout.

I know they stopped using the AZ jab a while ago, which could be why they are so behind....

This keeps getting said - but it doesn't make sense.

If going by that strict rule, then the country shouldn't be opening up - as there can be loads of vaccinated carriers walking around.

The whole point of getting vaccinated is to stop the restrictions, surely?

Why is someone coming from abroad more likely to cause an outbreak than one of the 8000+ a day infected people in the UK?

(Maybe I'm a little bit salty - I'm vaccinated but still have to quarantine when I get back next week and pay for 3 covid tests on top of a flight that cost 2x as much as normal :()

Long term yes, short term it’s to stop the health service from being over loaded and crippled.

Until almost everyone is vaccinated you could be carrying it to those at a much higher risk of being hospitalised because they haven’t yet managed to be vaccinated.

This is the way I see it anyway

I know that it is scientifically illogical to link the two things together, but I can't help thinking that the revelations that the very man who signed these restrictions in to law under medical health act emergency powers (HanCOCK)has not seen fit to follow them himself, will cause a lot of people to question at very least the decision not to lift the restrictions on 21st June as promised.

Was at a garden party today, the wife’s relations and friends, absolute hoot, but that’s another story. Speaking to an Aunty and she’s tells me her two grandsons went down to London for the football, no tickets, didn’t see the game at all, partied like never before, back up here aye, both with COVID. Both in their twenties.

has HANCOCK broken any restrictions though? he is in a work bubble. what he has done is broken a code of conduct, nothing to do with Covid.
That is why he resigned and use Covid as yet another excuse.

It was an "offence"at the time under Hancock's emergency powers to even hug family. Ridiculous yes- but how can the architect of that survive when he was clearly doing more than hugging?!
There is plenty more though as you say - why ws she hired? Using a Gmail account for official business etc.
