Re: Coronavirus - The Thread :(

Who cares about the figures even the lowest ones are a nightmare.
This is worst than a Sci Fi Film and i can't see the end.
If someone told me this was going to happen this time last year.
I would have said they were crazy and needed some medication/tablets.

Re: Coronavirus - The Thread :(

It is no wonder people are confused. That is what happens when the powers that be issue numbers that are inconsistent. First we had deaths (but for any reason) then that was changed, then we have positive test results, then we have "cases" then we have hospitalisations. And then of course the selective use of what dates the charts start from. If this were a statistics exam I think they would fail.

Re: Coronavirus - The Thread :(

For my poor auld pugglt brain there's just too much info to take in. It's different for each devolved area of the country and it keeps on changing, of course. I was feeling very confused until I decided to only pay attention to Nicola's daily broadcast which amounts to "Dae whit yer telt, stey in the hoose and only gon oot fur the messages or cough bottle" or even safer "Gonae no dae that" - Simples, as Alexander would say!

Absolutely. We need to be presented with the facts so that we can all take sensible action and take responsibility for our own safety as best we can.
But we also have a right to have facts presented to us in a consistent way and in context .
Not in a way that is only designed to scare the public in to submission. There are so many facets of this situation that deserve better scrutiny and that is not happening .

I believe we’ll be getting it back here in the UK before long the way it’s going, over 500,000 new cases last week

we have a choice people either stop being arseholes and mixing like there is nothing going on and not washing hands, or we get made to do it again, still get trump style comments from people saying crap like there is only more cases because there is more testing, even though the percentage per people tested is still higher.

Would you concede that whilst the number of "cases" is of course rising, that many of these cases are asymptomatic and are actually showing up traces of harmless virus?

The same in Germany, partially at least. Public transport is still working. Pubs and restaurants are closed. Official public dates as in courts for f.i. forced sales are cancelled.
Food and groceries are still available, fuel as well.
Groups are limited to five people from two households, mostly. (It depends on the state you're in.)
Hairdressers are still open, sweat shops and nail bars and other beauty factories are closed.
Still no gathering for chilling purposes. People coming in from outside are mostly tested and/or quarantined.
According to current figures the health would face a breakdown by mid-December if this type of lockdown won't work.
Some hospitals are treating already patients from The Netherlands, Belgium, and France. There is enough medical equipment but we lack people who are able to operate on. (Better payment would help a bit but not yet any willingness to noticeable.)

We still have a huge problem with people who are trying to sell the flu-tale, ignoring all the measures which are set in action. Hopefully, the latter ones will be stopped by the Police this time. We don't need these crappers.

Keep healthy

no because the number dying and who have long covid is also going up so hardly harmless.

More testing will of course show greater numbers of infections, due to so many beign asymptomatic. However, they are not harmless, as their virus can be passed to others, who may succumb to a greater degree.

Large numbers of asymptomatic or mild symptoms is perhaps a good thing. A virus does not wish to kill its host, or it dies with it. This virus will mutate to become less dangerous, but we have no idea how long this is likely to take. At sometime in the future, we will live with it, like we do with other diseases, few go away completely.

Had my annual flu jab on Tuesday. Arm still a bit sore. Worrying that this is 'necessary' this year. If I can catch flu, then covid can get in too. If I manage to protect myself from covid, I won't get flu either.
Had the jab, shed the tears, felt sorry for myself with a sore arm, better now.

Re: Coronavirus - The Thread :(

looking at America, in all the wars since 1900 155,448 Amercans have died in conflict up to last year, this year alone 230,000+, deaths already with 9000,000+ known cases. keep not believing and that will be the case in the UK sooner rather than later.
At work I have a boss who dosn't believe and thinks its a fuss about nothing, last week we had a young apprentice from Manchester who brought the virus into our workplace (workplace is in Devon so is not used to virus prevelance), lets just say that the sh%$t hitting the fan is a minor statement......
The 'boss' is now in 2 weeks isolation, I am not because I was more cautious at the time.
