Ok, I will be able to offer storage space in Kensington starting mid October when the stuff that's in there now has gone. If that's going to be of any use, then can someone in the know please DM me at the weekend.

How tall are the poles. I have a cellar but the steps have a sharp bend making it hard to get anything very long down there. I'm located in Darlaston, West Midlands. (Google darlaston Asda and I'm not far from their, obviously don't want to put my actual postcode online)

I'm also a busy guy and don't get to all shows but if you're willing to sort out someone to drop it off and collect it then there won't be an issue.

You can rent a council garage for about £600pa.
I don't know where any of you live or would like to store this item, so I decided yUK central was a reasonable starting point and space can be rented for as little as £4.62 per week for 25 ft2 at Dudley, Wolverhampton, Stourbridge, Halesowen or Lye.

The devil is in the small print. That's only an introductory price - it doubles after the first 3 months, and there's a mandatory insurance charge of £6/mo to be added. Also if the <whatever it is> really does need a 3mx3m space, that's 100 sqft - the equivalent of an 8x12 shed, which is huge.

With the mandatory insurance, that'd cost £136/month at the place in your link. A council garage would likely be less than £50 for a considerably bigger space.

I found all this out last time I moved house and needed some extra storage space for awhile. To my great surprise, I was able to get into a council garage 1/4 mile away in less than two weeks for less that a fifth of what I'd have paid for a similar space at any of the self storage companies.

These self storage places are another face of rip-off Britain. I could have rented a flat for less than it'd have cost to store & insure my house contents at one of them.

All good information, but 5 pages in, just a tad late, IMHO.

I still think my original suggestion is favourable.

Google, Coleman events shelters, come in up to 15x15 feet and 2 meters of head room, cost about a couple of hundred quid and can be stored neatly in a relatively small space, sell the current marquee and that would more than fund one or even two of them which you could spread out on a stand and arrange the cars around them

We're currently using a Coleman event shelter for the Fiat Scotland events and they are very good and much more compact storage-wise than normal gazebos. This is the FS one prior to the Scottish Italian Car Day

and set up the night before. this is the medium sized shelter 12ft x 12ft

However... having been to a couple of Fiat Forum events I don't think even the 15ft x 15ft would be big enough and you'd need at least a couple minimum. Idiot proof though and very sturdy (y)

Three of these would be £300 and easier to store. Be sure to have heavy weights for the corners and hammer-in tie-down stakes for where it's possible to use them.

Side screens are extra.

Most events require public liability insurance. With today's "blame everything on someone else society" its daft to not cover the cover. ;)

This is exactly the sort of thing I think we need. The price of them is almost unimportant as we save so much on van an storage expenses. These could be stored in a shed and transported in the back of a car easily enough (y)

only problem with them is there is no sides... the marquee really comes into its own when the weather is a bit crap at a show - you need something with sides to stop the rain and wind. Granted, the rest of the time they would be perfect.

You can buy sides for them as extra but they're not too pricey if I remember correctly. We have them but thankfully haven't needed them yet as the weather held for us this year. Plus, as gadge says, they are very easily stored and transported. Ours is stashed in a corner of my shed well and truly out of the way and I'd hardly know it's there if it wasn't for the ruddy great big fiat badge in front reminding me :D

Having seen the picture Dave posted of two of them together I actually think it would work very nicely for the FF stand

Looking at the Coleman website, wouldn't the Deluxe version be the better buy at it's Steel Poles and has the roof supports as well:

Poles 2m long

Poles 2m long

No chance of getting them in my cellar then. The angle is too tight (n)

Won't a cellar be damp? Canvas quickly rots if put away wet.

My cellar isn't too bad but I believe the canvas are kept in boxes anyway. And it's no different to when it pisses it down. Either way the canvas gets wet

These are good for sitting down in, but not so good for a load of people standing up. They feel quite claustrophobic as the roof is pretty low.

If you had the side walls on, you wouldn't want a large bunch of people inside.

Yeah but no but yeah...

Buy more. £100 per dome and side panels at £25. Not silly money TBH.

I see these domes a lot at shows, - certainly filling them solid with crowds isn't great but then what is?

A FF show is about the cars so people will be outside unless there's pouring rain. When that happens people will put up and then be out as soon as it clears. AND they have their own cars to shelter in.

As for people sitting down - perhaps this is what the FF should be offering. Space for exhibitors to place a pull-up banner(s) and talk to potential customers over a coffee.

I think three domes in line would look really cool. 5 domes to form a zig-zag would be stunning. At a price of course.
