Firstly, THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE APP - it's strictly the mobile site ;)

I was without app usage the other day and using the mobile skin really isn't that great, so I've decided it needs a redesign to match the main desktop site.

Obviously, as the moment, it's just a simple forum browser - which of course is the first thing I'll add. But basically I'm wondering what else people would want to be able to access on the move?

Guides I'm thinking will be useful, Events maps? (too small?), Downloads (probably not?)

Any ideas and suggestions, I'll be looking to put this into action over the next week or so :)

I don't need to to access this site "on the move". Please don't take this as a criticism - it's only to indicate that some don't "do" mobile access for some things.

well THIS IS ABOUT THE APP. Modify it to iphone 6 screen resolution compatability!

i'll prob get hate for this, but i prefer the actual website than using the app.

things i have found that can be a bit of a pain is when you have to press the reply button to respond to a message.

sometimes the black bar at the top of the page with the FF logo, search box, model jump box, notification, and message notification will sometimes mess up and appear all over the screen when trying to zoom.. i did not know if that was just my device though

i think downloads would be a good idea. say you are fixing a car and you are outside you can get a PDF or something downloaded to your phone. would make fixing things more easy.

other than that, the fact it is more like the desktop/laptop website is why i use it :D

oh... ok.. just realised that i have never used the "mobile" website on my phone... my bad.. i always have it in "PC" mode

Very helpful guys lol... I don't use the forum app or mobile site either tbh but thats more cause my phone is ancient than anything else..
ben can i make the forum show in mobile version on my computer, can't find a link or anything to make it do it. If I can I will have a gander later and make some suggestions but unable to view it atm.

I must admit I have never used the mobile version of the site until this thread was started. If I use the forum on my iPhone I always use the app. So I have just had a look at it on my phone and it doesn't appear to work at all on Chrome on an iPhone. Touching the links to the threads does nothing. That looks like something that needs looking at.

It does seem to work on Safari on the same phone though.

Well atm it's pretty blank. It was just a generic skin I threw on when I didn't have the time to make a proper one.

You can force load it by going to http://m.fiatforum.com

Just forced its use on my iPad because it doesn't default to the mobile skin using that. It doesn't work with Chrome on that either and annoyingly I couldn't switch back to PC mode either because touching the PC mode button wouldn't respond so had to delete all my cookies to get the full version back again.

I'm not sure how important it is to get it working for Chrome users using iOS devices but it might be something you want to look at.

I must admit I've never used the mobile version.
A. Because I can never remember my password so I have to refer to the A4 piece of paper on the office wall at home if for whatever reason the forum 'forgets' me and I have to sign in again.
B. I'm usually doing other things whilst away from home and have never really felt the need... sorry.
I do, however, check the forum every day whilst at home, honest.;)

As a user of the mobile site strictly rather than using the app, not sure why always just found it easy to use so no point getting the app I don't really see any issues with it. Sure you could change the colours to match up a bit more with the full site's scheme but it's very functional.
Downloads could be helpful as dragonman says when you're outside working on a car it might be useful to have things on your phone.
I'm not sure the who's currently online/todays birthdays and statistics need to be on the mobile version but unless they add loading time they probably aren't causing any harm.

Tapping the link to the thread should take you to the first unread post, so unless it's a really long thread I can't see it taking that long to get to the last post from that point?

If you're logged in.

Otherwise its click, wait for thread to load, click last, wait for page to load, scroll to bottom.

All it require is to add a href to last post text not complicated.

Well for a start there are 7 mobile devices in my house that I use two of which are mine and I often use other peoples tablets in friends / family houses. If you look at the stats for any forum / site the majority of visitors are not logged in. And again all it requires is adding a href to the text so it takes no space, requires very little effort so why would you argue.
