Hi I am new here.

I have had my punto evo gp for nearly 2 years now, not been a bad car however today when stoped at traffic lights the power steering went off however when I turned off the engine and restarted it the power steering came back on and was working fine.

has anyone had any problem like this before and if so what is going on?

many thanks
lee

Is it by not the stop/start kicking in? Obvs the power steering goes when the engine cuts out when stationary... and I feel the steering is very nice and weighty in sport mode thunderbug, lots of feel!

Although mines not an Abarth Punto Evo, my steering works as normal when the S/S kicks in.

I could be wrong buti believe my last two fiat punto evos did the same, the engine isn't running to power the power steering pump so the steering goes very heavy until you put the clutch down.

This is incorrect. The steering is power by electric motors. it should still work as standard with the SS activated. however i have had mine go heavy once before, its usually just a small fault and will restart after turning it iff and on. if it does continue it needs fault checking as a number of things can cause it.

:yeahthat:

Often a failing battery can cause EPS issues, but then again if this were the cause then its unlikely that SS would still be kicking in properly.
