Hello all,

On another forum, I read that Punto Abarth will not be sold in 2014. Invoked reason is engine that is not Euro 6 compliant. It can be compliant, but it need modifications and new homologation/approval (and Fiat dont want to do this).

Any informations ? Right ? False ?

I know Fiat don't love Punto anymore in his fuc*** 500 world, but this is a strange new.

Atleast it makes the APE even rare-er on our roads :D

As a result of the regulation, the EU car manufacturers' fleet average has to be aligned with 130g CO2/km - partially as of 2012 and completely by 2015.

e Euro 6 standard will come into force on 1 September 2014 for the approval of vehicles, and from 1 January 2015 for the registration and sale of new types of cars

Here they are not so rare...

But it change my plans, this was perhaps an idea to buy one next year

I visited my dealer, and this sad new is true, not more orderable, internal new of mid-september :mad::mad:

Where Fiat is going ? :bang:

Co2 yes okay.. and want VW do with Golf GTi and R ? They are stil for sale...

Don't want to buy a VW. So if I want and Abarth it's my last chance...

Bloody EU! Kill things off. Not the first time either!! This is why Aston Martin have done the Cygnet and why Merc have done Smart. But I don't think they've done a great job marketing the Abarth Punto really - otherwise it might have sold enough to be worth keeping it going!

And VW sell boat loads of UP's and Blue Motion Polo's and Golf's so it gives them more CO2 breathing space (no pun intended)

The car is great but I think they as you, they are not so good for marketing, web site and so... Since yesterday, configurator was down.. they dont want to sell cars ?

I send a mail this afternoon, now it works.

My dream :

The Punto Abarth of this generation might might stop then, but that doesn't stop Fiat from making the Abarth version of their next generation Punto (mk4). Lets keep in mind that the Grande Punto is produced from 2005, and the Abarth version from 2007. Normally, the mk4 Punto would have been released this year but it got postponed due to the very severe economic crisis in Italy. A likely release date seems Q3 of 2014 or even 2015.

I hope you are right :)

I easily understand that Punto 199 has done his time. But i can't understand that the production of old model stops before new one is released.

Normally, the two models should even have poroduction that overlap.

Hope the new Punto will be good and soon :)

AFAIK you can only pick up the Supersport now in the UK.

I heard rumbles of a new Punto coming out next year with an Abarth along side it but I've also heard they believe the Punto is too big to be considered for having the Abarth treatment and they want to just run with the 500 and introduce the Abarth Panda.

Yes now you can only pickup the SuperSport 180BHP.

Essesse kit is still available (drilled front & rear discs, 18'' wheels, koni springs and shocks, exhaust) and now is not needed to upgrade power.

But dealers can't order car anymore, they have to pick in stock available models.

Personaly I dont see a Panda Abarth. Yes, it is a fun a practice small car and look well, but no links with sports or Abarth.

If they want to do something, they can put the 120/135 BHP 1.4L and make a sporty Panda. But not sure it will sell greatly...
