With all the rumours flying around on the forums at the moment it is hard to know what is going on at Abarth. From what I've heard the stocks of the current Abarth Punto Evo are drying up around the country and no more are coming from Turin.

What does this mean?

Well I can only speculate at this stage but I think we will see a new Abarth Punto soon. Based on the new 2012 Punto with revised bumpers etc and roughly EsseEsse power as standard. We might even see the new MultiAir II engine and that could mean closer to 200bhp but that might be a little optimistic.

Has anyone else heard anything or got any guesses?

I hope there price drops soon as they are way-overpriced considering nobody buys them, 14k for a new one standard is insane, if they drop in price and good used ones appear im going to consider getting one once im finished with my gp in another year or two.

They are actually nearer £17k for a New Punto Evo (if you can find one) but if you spec a Normal Punto Evo MA 135 to a simlar spec it comes out more expensive so is actually not that bad. And it's still 2k cheaper than a Polo GTi

Expensive at £14k? Are you kidding me? A basic Golf GTI is £25.6k, and can you honestly tell me that it's worth that extra £11.6k? Abarth's 'issue' (if you insist that they have one) is that they're not very well advertised.

Their other issue is that on BHP terms they are outgunned by everyone else, even Skoda and They don't have enough UK dealers and therefore presence.

i think the fact abarth's arent as advertised makes them more desirable. (I am biased towards fiat and abarth though!)

after all, you don't see mugen civic's or Hamann BMW's being advertised.

I agree though that Abarth's need more power to match the look of the car. It doesnt look good when you get an Ibiza FR and fabia vRS outpacing an Abarth.

but... I'd have an Abarth over any other hot hatch :)

Well 17k for a punto evo seems an awful lot but i guess a used one will be a better option, as for the power problem, has anyone been able to map them or do anything to boost the power besides getting the esse esse option? i imagine having them mapped would get them close to 200 bhp? any views of this?

£17k is not that much these days. Cars are alot more expensive than just 4-5 years ago. At £16,800 the Abarth Punto is one of the cheapest hot hatches in its class but when the Abarth Grande Punto came out it was just £13500 and that was only in 2008. The automotive inflation is ludicrous.
