Hi all,
I'm thinking of selling my Sporting and buying an Abarth Evo,
Does anyone else like the look of the Abarth Evo or is it just me.

It all depends on the price of course but the tech of the evo seems to be a nice option especially the normal and sport button and the 165 ps with the added fuel and co2 savings from the multiair,
I test drove the Abarth GP and liked it but went for the Sporting instead.
Oh well i can see another test drive looming.

Abarth Evo will be nice, it looks really good, and it comes with all the kit the normal Evo does, so it'll be very good quality feel & not plasticy.

But the price is bound to be 20k or more for the base Abarth Evo.

Abarth Evo, no sign of a release date yet though? unless theres been news just recently.

Hi all,
I suppose i could look at the Evo sporting instead of the Abarth, Has anyone got one on the site as i would like some feedback on it,
Thanks
Keith

There's only 1 i can think of & he isnt very forum active, but he did say it goes like stink & hes happy with it.

That said there's a couple on order & April is the big delivery dates the dealerships have been quoting everyone so one will pop up soon enough!

I have a sporting on Order, when it comes to the Abarth though for the money you can get much better cars, the 500 abarth is cool because its a 500 but punto? might aswell get something a bit more high end than a glammed up fiat?

Depends really...

£20,000 for the average joe just looking for a car, he'd just get a 1.6 high-end Focus... someone with money & after a rapid car, fan of fiats... im sure he'd seriously consider an Abarth Evo, I have no doubt it'll be a very nice car.

VW Golf GTI - £26,000
Ford Focus ST - £23,000
Astra VXR - £23,000

Theres a quick look at prices of cars in that kind of price range (before extras), personally i would go for Focus ST... but once i see the petrol consumption + tax/insurance on a 2.5 Litre tyre muncher, id be looking at the Abarth Evo, which'll be rapid, fully loaded & cheaper to run all across the board + will be a "unique" car as not many will be sold, also Abarths hold there value pretty well... a Focus ST certainly doesn't.

Of course, the Abarth Evo might not be £20,000... it could be more, it could be abit less. :)

(Before anyone flames me for going up in segments, Fiesta/Corsa don't have a competing car for that price tag, plus there rubbish.)

BMW 1 series ? 177bhp for around £20,000 on a diesel with 60mpg was what i was going to get before my budget got smaller and I got the sporting

An Evo Sporting costs more than an Abarth?

An Evo Sporting costs nearly as much as my Bravo?!

What is a Bravo with multiair going to cost? £25k?!

Evo Sporting is a completely different car to the GP Abarth it's not always about how fast it can go, for me a fast but economical engine is perfect!

Bravo haha nevermind, I would rather pay for the Evo than get a second rate failed model like the bravo (no offence each to their own ;) )

Who says that they are going to make a Bravo with multiair? Wouldn't surpies me if the Bravo dissapeared again!

I forgot to check em, was just quickly jotting down the mainstream top of the range sports models (like the abarth).... that said, id rather have a Focus ST over a BMW 1 series (y)

BMW are always nice cars though, my brother just got a BMW 3 Series M-Sport Business Edition... :worship:

Do we know it will be £20k? GP Abarth was around £14k, have they really built in £6k of improvements?

We dont, but as the Sporting is 15.5k as standard, then once pimped upto the Abarth level in extras etc (well, the one we've seen) its about 16.5-17k .... add another 3.5k for an Abarth badge, so it makes sense.

As for the price jump, hmm, would of liked the whole range to be alittle bit cheaper but it isn't a waste of money, im still more than happy with my Eleganza, it was certainly a good buy & that was 14.5k (i think).. which was my budget, if I had more id of gone happily gone higher (if sporting had 5 door option.)

New Astra VXR's Specced up are 18k max now. Brand new ST3 Focus's are a touch over 20k.

If you are looking at any of those cars then you know what the running costs are and it is highly unlikely you would go for a much slower car in the form of either an AGP or an APE to save a few quid on tyres and petrol.

I have had my evo sporting since 15th March now... Got about 800miles on the clock already and its fanstastic.

My previous car was a 1995 corsa so a bit of a huge jump ;)

Its really good on MPG, providing that you actually drive 'economically' As soon as the turbo kicks in... (usually about 2k rev) it starts to burn alot more fuel. The speed of it is immense and overtaking is so much easier compared to the corsa.

I'm not big on the whole car scene yet so I still have alot to learn. If you have anymore questions, gimme a shout and i'll try help out.

(I aim to become a more regular forum member :p)

I took my prices from the websites of Vauxhall / Ford... Vauxhall didnt have any New Astra VXR's listed but i find it extremely hard to believe you can get a New Astra VXR for 18k after i tried to get offers etc on an above average New Astra for 15k and got sent packing, besides that an SRI specced up on website costs 24k, and Brand new Focus ST2 came out at 23k, i didnt check ST3 but i cant imagine it being less ;).... 2nd hand you'll get an ST3 cheaper than a used Abarth GP though!

i was checking RRP, not deal prices.

And yeah true, but were also talking about performance cars, what in your opinion meets up with a Abarth GP/Evo?... pretty empty market unless your after one of the beasts above.

This forums addictive, i came to check on GP T-jets almost a year ago & caught wiff of the Punto Evo coming so i waited... and some how got sucked into the forum big time, now im hooked :p

I love my 105 Eleganza, ive not taken it on the motorway yet but it certainly has enough pull to dust off most traffic & the occasional moron with a dustbin exhaust, I imagine the Sporting is good fun! cant wait to see what remaps are like for both models, apparently the 105 & 135 both benefit well from remapping so far.

It makes no sense. Where did you get the idea that the Abarth badge is worth £3.5k?

The basic GP Abarth cost only about £1k more than the basic GP Sporting. I'd expect the PE Abarth to also cost only about £1k more than the PE Sporting.

And as you say, the pimping of the Fiat can take it up to greater than the cost of the Abarth.

I'd guess the Abarth would cost nearer £16k.
