A standard spec Abarth evo (a great car, don't get me wrong) or a Focus ST-2, or a Golf GTi (used), or a Civic Type R, or an Astra VXR.... the list goes on. The Abarth Evo is aimed at the smaller car class, like the Renaultsport Clio, Seat Ibiza Cupra, Polo GTi, etc - and they're all priced around 18k. Abarth would have to make an Abarth Bravo in order to compete successfully against the Focus, Astra, Civic etc etc....

Just my 2p worth

Thats true, but Abarth is a pretty "special" brand, its not a bog standard "Fiat" its an Abarth, like the McLaren / Cosworth etc (Yes matt, i know, i shot up about 20 segments there! but i couldnt think of anymore tuner companys!)... i dont think they've sold very many Abarth Grandes?

Also id pick a Abarth Evo over a Polo GTi anyday!
and the Civic Type R, like matt has said is utter, utter **** ... the old ones are good fun though!
I'd pick the Focus ST-2, but after i saw the tax/insurance/fuel/tyre bills id probably have to trade it in

Re: Abarth Evo

Megane 225 or Astra VXR are the ones to have.

Abarth say there cars arent about volume sales so i think they said when the AGP first came out that they wouldnt do more than 1500ish a year.

Corsa VXR, Polo GTI are more comparable matches to the Abarth GP/Evo.

Went past a vaux dealer yesterday and there was a Astra VXR in red with the "black edition" stuff on for 18.5k

Punto Evo, Evolution, next step, change etc.. makes sense.

Though personally, I think "Evo" is abit of a sacred name i'm surprised Fiat had the cheek to use it.

Colt looks like a beasty, wonder what the spec etc is *googles*

Yeah that was my line of thinking with the name Evo ...... Same with VW with the R32.

Anyway think the colt is 1.5 turbo , which is why i think is a good comparison, but after reading some comments with the abarth costing 20k, may be not.

You will be converted to the darkside

The sporting looks great.. as does the Evo GP, 17" alloys really look the part on the sporting though.

I'm loving my progressive black, it looks black most of the time but now & then it seems to look unique (i.e black & red).. other times (sunset usually) it seems to turn almost bronze, hard to get bored of it

I read somewhere that the 'EVO' name has always been ownded by Fiat (as Mistubishi actually brand it the Evolution).

So it's theres to use freely whenever I guess

Re: Abarth Evo

I'd be hugely surprised if the Abarth Evo was anywhere near 20,000. I remember seeing the Abarth Grande (standard) on a forecourt brand new for under 14,000. Think you would have to Essesse it and tick most of the option boxes to get upto that price.

Re: Abarth Evo

Still not a fan of the interior, Just looks ultra cheap and nasty to me! :-(. Exterior looks good though...

That kinda money gets you lots of other motors though.... be interesting to see how well these sell with the price tag... (A500 owners needing more room?)
