Hi all Just bought a 59 plate 1.6 120 bhp diesel punto, the engine light is on the turbo is not kicking in can anyone help, And the cabin fan doesn't work at any speed, I have some paperwork which says it had a new resistor back in Feb 2014 and they had a engine code p 206 boost pressure which they erased.I wonder if the problem has come back, It had a new battery yesterday I don't suppose that would have anything to do with it would it.

Cant see how the cabin fan would cause the turbo not kicking in. What was the full error code, has your missing a number. May have a faulty turbo or sensor but be easier if had codes. This way people may be help easier ;-)

Sorry should of mentioned I have two problems with the car the turbo and the cabin fan, only just got the car so I don't have any codes to tell u about, took it out before and it worked fine turbo kicking in fine, did some shopping got back in the car drove home and again the turbos not kicking in again.

Has for cabin fan, get the wires checked to see if they are not burned out or loose.

Has for error you not got access to a odb2 reader or know anyone that got one? I personally went an got multiecu scan as me and my dad both have fiats so worked out cheaper than going dealer for diagnostic

Just checked the connector which hold the resistor and there's no signs of any burning anywhere, I would check the fuse but don't know where it is. The only fuses I can find are in the right hand side of the engine bay.

And I've just checked the wires going to the fan with a multimeter and there's power going to the fan when I switch the fan on.

There is a fuse box in the passenger glove box (think its there). The heater fuse will be in there. If you look at your handbook you should find which number fuse it is and amp. I can look at my handbook but have wait till I get home tonight (22.15 or so).

Check this out as well incase not the fuse https://www.fiatforum.com/grande-punto/314051-heater-faq.html (copy and paste)

Edit: According to my handbook its fuse number 10 and its 5 amps (bottom right hand side of the fuse box)

Right just found fuse in glove box behind usb, Can anyone tell me which fuse I need to look at please.

Why are you still searching for a fuse?

You have voltage so the problem it's the fan.

Took fan out today hooked it up to a battery and nothing happened, so I took the cover of the fan off and tried to clean the bushes and rotor arm, put it back together again, put the battery on it again and it worked, put it back in the car and it worked fine in all settings but then it stopped working again, so it's time for a new fan.

Right just replaced the turbo boost control sensor with a new one, then took the car out for a drive engine light still on and still no turbo kicking in, so that was a waste of money, tried to see if the wastegate rod goes up and down which it does, I've disconnected the battery for 20 minutes but that didn't help anyone got any other ideas

Hi mate.

Have you plumbed the sensor up right?? And you would probably need the fault codes clearing to get a clean slate. As the ecu will still think there is an error with the sensor, so will still be going into limp mode.

Hi yes it's plumbed in right, two hoses, one thinner than the other, so can't get it wrong and the connector only goes in one way so it's fitted correctly and disconnected the battery for 20 minutes to hopefully reset ecu but didn't work. So yeah as you say needs the codes clearing with a scanner

I've just ordered a code reader of ebay so hopefully I can reset it and see what happens

Still waiting for scanner, but I have noticed there seems to be quite a bit of oil around the area underneath the turbo. Looks like I'm going to have to take the bumper off to have a look. Anyone got any ideas what it could be, what I need to look out for, I've taken the heat cover of the turbo and the nut that holds the oil feed for the turbo is ok so it's not that.

Update deleted the turbo boost control sensor fault and found a split hose to the intercooler which I fixed, when i started the car engine light came on aswell as tellow triange light when Down the road and then heard a massive bang and had loss of power and loads of misfiring. Anyone got any ideas what's going on

Got it back home popped the bonnet and noticed the jubilee clip that holds the hose that I sorted was on the bottom of the pan

The engine light stays on all the time and when I start the car the yellow triangle light come on then goes off after a minute or so and a message saying anti pollution message coming on. It seems to be when the yellow triangle light is on the turbo tries to kick in but can't, When the triangle light goes out the turbo never kicks in doing my head in now
