Do these boxes have any effect on fuel consumption? Quite keen to get one if they dont! Also anyone else got any more info on them?
If anything a tmc box will increase mpg slightly. Pretty hard to get hold of as different gens. I wanted one for the esseesse but was put off, they can either work a treat with no problems or breaks things under the bonnet! General consensus is go for a remap as its safer for the car and will have more stable power figures, I didn't want a map as its more 'permanent' so decided to do nothing.
Maps aren't permanent you can get the wiped easily, you just cant sell it on like a TMC.
TMC boxes and the like are meant to be good but i really wouldn't say they are healthy for the engine. They just up the fuelling and boost pressure which can make things go bang.
Then remaps are dangerous too, but they are safer if done properly!
Be careful of some places, they will do exactly what a tuning box does, without the box if that makes sense.
Get a live rolling road remap.
Luke.

We are talking about petrols. I think they are safer with diesel engines.
I have used a TMC box on my AGP before with no issues - just tone the setting down and use the extra power respectfully.
Can't fault their support either, if you ever need to talk to them, they're there!
