HI Guys

Newbie to your forum looks like a good place for advice.

I bought a 2016 Abarth 595 Competizione which came with flashing mileage and after digging around looked like it needed a proxy alignment, then bought Multiscan with full code but would not realine states a media centre error.

So, took it to the stealer ship who told me that it has the wrong seats and the air bag module dates and numbers did not correspond to the ones in the car, I asked can it be reprogrammed to which they said yes but would need to quote for a new airbag module as they had seen this before and sometimes needs the module replaced (n)

I found some correct seats and installed no issues all wiring and dates correct and took it to a local independant specialist who said he could re-aline how ever after an hour gave up saying not to sure why it wont aline but looks like the air bag module.

So now I have multiscan telling me media error , stealer ship wants small fortune and independant not sure. Does anyone know or can recommend someone who knows what they are doing or advise of a sensible way forward to stop the mileage flashing. this is my first Fiat and is very frustrating just getting things like this sorted, any help or advice appreciated.

:):)

I have a wealth of experience with changing these. So, you say the airbag ECU is the incorrect one for the car? If you go to the ePer website and put in your VIN number you can then go through to the section on airbags and it will give you the serial number of what the airbag ECU should be. You could then look on eBay and see if ones available.

As for the media error. They changed the seats, could they have updated the stereo too? As far as I know the modern stereos are coded to the VIN so possibly can’t be recoded, unless virginised. This may well be your problem.

Even though Fiat tell you it’s the incorrect ECU doesn’t mean that is the problem. Why did the independent suggest this?

Can you post exactly what MES is telling you on airbag ECU and stereo?

Firstly, thank you for the steer in the right direction and appreciate you taking the time.

I have tried several times now to get into the eper site using IE but is running very slow then just errors out, and did notice the catalogue date is 2005 so not sure if it will cover this 2016 model, or am i in the wrong place ?

The Vin number is : ZFA3120000J619470

Air bag module is a Continental A2C95530204041617900190 has green connector inserts not orange if that makes any difference ?
I will run a full MES tomorrow and report back but air bag module passes ok on this and just reports media error.

The independent was not sure and just picked up on the conversation that I had with the dealer ship re: the air bag module.
So should I need the media centre virginised do I send it away to be done then recoded I would have thought to the car or can you please explain the process.

Thanks again

I’m hazarding a guess on the stereo. I’m assuming, possibly wrongly that as they changed the seats that they may well have changed the stereo too. If the new head units are anything like the old ones they are coded to the car and if taken out and put in another car they need the pin code. On the new one, I think it’s likely they are coded to the VIN hence the error.

I think the airbag ECU is a red herring. They are not linked in any way.

Eper is the name of the old FIAT parts system.. ;)

Anybody could buy a disc

Personally I just use a version from European shops..

Fiatdalys is good.. and in English

Your FIAT is very closely related to Alfa Romeo..
I believe there are several specialists in your area...

Hi all

Again apologies being a newbie with Fiats, but the latest version I can find is V84 and does not seem to cover 2016 or am I wrong ?

I tried Fiatdalys but cant select my car and does not recognize the VIN, so frustrating just trying to get basic information on these cars.

I have tried a very good local specialist but is struggling with the issues hence the request to the Fiat forum and experts who work on these and know them inside and out.

So couple of questions, the head unit is all working no issues are you saying I need this recoded to the car , and Vin Number ?

Also can these units be factory reset and recoded or is it a case of dealership selling you a new one which I dread to think of the cost knowing Fiat.

Quite probably. I had an ABS pump changed on my 500X which made everything work but because it was coded to the car it came out of it kept the light up on the dash. Had to get a new one in the end as the Fiat stealer said it couldn’t be recoded. I think they lied but this could well be the same scenario.
