Need some advice, my car shakes at around 48-60mph but stops if I take my foot off accelerate. I've had the wheels balanced it's still doing it so Guessing its the driveshaft, where is people buying the complete drive shaft for the n/s from apart from the main dealer as I've spoke to them and there wanting just short of £400 without fitting...

Welcome, how old is the car and how many miles on it?
Did you get all the wheels checked for balance?
Have you checked the wheels and tyres are ROUND? I had a branded tyre that ended up bald on one half of the tyre the opposite side was fine, try swapping the fronts and rears for a start if not already tried?
If the car is new ish a breakers yard maybe a cheaper way though I would look at the bearings and CV before condemning the whole thing also check the engine mountings?

95000 and 9 years old, yeah checked them all I'd herd previously about bulges and baldness on the tyres can contribute... My other option was to look at the mounts as there only cheapish parts and if they don't work its not a massive chunk out of the bank account... Didn't know If people had experienced shaking if it was just a mount

It's not worth getting a dealer to sort this out, any competent mechanic should be able to do it.

It doesn't have to be a specialist although there are FIAT specialists around, the basis of the Abarth is the same as a normal 500, its just very tight in there!

Try Alfa & Italian specialists as well, there are also gearbox and transmission specialists that may also help.

In a car that age, there is no point paying dealer prices, the garage overheads are too high.

Good luck(y)
