There used to be more than Volvo. My 2 Saabs and 1 of my 3 Volvo's were true Swedes, 1 Volvo had a crappy German engine and 1 was made under Ford ownership.
They all handled pretty well on Vredestein tyres though, so it makes sense Dutch people have them on their cheapest to run vehicles they use the most.

Iíd expect a moderator to respect other marques tbh. Sure BMWs might not be to everyoneís taste, but they canít be as successful as they are without doing something right. Thereís a reason BMW had 4 times the profit that FCA had in 2016.

I drive 105 miles a day, there isnít a product in Fiatís portfolio thatís going to carry me as quickly, safely and in as much comfort as my 320d touring does. Around town however Iíd rather be in my 500.

Saab never build an entire own engine, instead they used a Triumph derivate...

I like Alfas as well, but apart from the current Giulia, there is nothing that fulfils my current needs.

Agreed, I was sarcastic.
Fiat used to have the Croma, and there's always Alfa with the 159 and now the fantastic RWD Giulia.

The Giulia could be an option in the future, but I didnít really want to buy new. Sadly the 159 is a generation behind what Iíve bought. I work for a car company and it kind of gets shoved in my face how important infotainment is!

The Fiat Croma and Alfa 159 were more or less GM, even the engine in the 159 was GM...so both were considered failures, and didn't sell well at all.

Yes and no, the B202i I had in both my 900s still had Triumph's slant-four design, but that's pretty much it.
If you go by that logic you can't be against German tyres on a Fiat either, they share platforms with Opel and use ZF gearboxes.
