More and more rumours reveal the possibility of Abarth's intentions of launching its own sports car, excluding a possible partnership with Lotus or KTM, due to personal reasons for the first one and the issue of the carbon-fiber X-Bow for the latter, which considered it much too expensive.

Talk about an out-of-date article

This was news last week and even then they got it wrong. Lotus have been dropped as well as their platform is still too expensive. The carbon fibre KTM platform was just stupidly expensive - although it does suggest Abarth might have something else up their sleeves that we haven't heard about yet...

The current plan is to use a spaceframe chassis - proper old school but with modern materials and fabrication.

My spaceframe Dallara (still retaining a lot of the original X1/9 monocoque) is a proper featherweight at roughly the same size as a modern Abarth sportscar would be so even if they don't go for lightweight materials it still won't weigh much.

Roll-on the proper press-releases from Abarth...

I'm sure we first heard of this "story" over a year ago!...
