Hi everyone,
I have just brought a 1982 fiat 238 motorhome. I was wondering what is the best modifications to do to it?
At the moment it is still in Italy and I have to wait for all the restriction to be lifted before I can go and drive it back. So just wanted to do some research so I can make a plan of what to do.
Many thanks

Hi
Fill it up with as many spare parts as you can before you drive it back.
Not sure if it will avoid the import duty (or whatever it is post Brexit) but it will save a fortune in postage.

I can't speak specifically on the 238 (I have a 900T).
However, https://www.ricambio.co.uk has always been a good source for parts but if you have time to search and wait Ebay (Italy) is a good place.
Also if you are not worried about originality it's worth checking out the performance shops e.g. Demon Tweaks or Merlin Motorsport (they can often make up alternatives, sometimes at less cost that the originals).

Hello. Just wondering if you have the 238 camper yet and how is progress? I purchased my 238 camper last year, based in Essex. Nice to know of others in the UK. I have photos on Instagram under vanlife_arancione. Good luck!

Excellent, looks so cool. Epic journey from Italy, I'm sure. I bought mine from someone in Glasgow so we had a long enough journey back. Water got into the front screen and blew fuses behind the dash on the border. It's going in to a mechanic next week to look at my blown fuses problem and overheating, he is a Fiat 500 specialist so hopefully, he'll be my goto person and has contacts for spares in Italy. I have a few bits to do but generally it's in good condition (actually in the book "my cool campervan"). Great that there's someone else in the UK. May even form a (small) club!! Where in the UK are you based?

It was a great experience. Wow sounds like you had quite a journey. It's a shame about the fuses, but I'm sure the mechanic will sort them out easily. Mine overheated on the way I think it suffers from airlocks in the cooling system.
Definitely good to have someone that can get hold of part for them, as I am finding it a bit of a challenge to find certain things.
Haha, it would be a small club as I think there is only a handful in the UK.
I'm just down in the southeast of kent
