Well I managed to find TDC using the chopstick method. The car wants to start, but the battery is dead now. I just bought a jumper pack and am heading over to the garage to try it out.
 
I would fully charge the battery to give you the best chance and take the jumper pack.

Check your earth lead between the engine and body, sometimes its bolted to the bulkhead and the clutch cover plate.

I did fully charge the battery after all. The jumper pack is part of my to-go bag, which includes the most common size spanners (8, 10, 12, 13, 19) phillips and flathead screwdrivers of varying sizes, a pack of fuses, electrical tape, phone charger and now the jumper pack which also includes a headlamp.
