What tyre sizes are folks running on they're Berlina/Sedans while using Cromadora alloys?

165/70/13's work or?

Thanks!

Gav

Don't forget. Due to the pivot position as the wheel goes up in the arch it will tuck in at the top.

I did fit some 165/80/13 tyres using the same wheels on an 850 saloon about 7 years ago and the did run a little on the inside of the arch. 165 width is only helpful if you start increasing the performance otherwise it adds drag. I would look at 155 70 13 but speak to a tyre outlet as you want to keep the diameter close to original for the speedo to be accurate.

Thanks Tim, as always you are reliable at coming back to us on questions.

I foolishly never thought of the weight going back on them resetting the camber angle to a degree, going to have a look at getting the size you suggested. There will be no performance enhancements with the exception of a beefed up exhaust that will more so generate noise over grunt. Found one on Ebay that I'm going to go for purely as I've a lot of time on my hands and boredom is setting in.

Iirc, the exhaust from the 850 Coupe is a (more or less) straight forward fitment on the Saloon - this exhaust has 4 header pipes (instead of the restrictive cast iron manifold of the Saloon) and a sporty silencer with a larger tailpipe.

The 3rd one looks 'the business' but probably won't increase performance much without other engine mods.

Although, if you have lots of time on your hands, you might (like many others) not have much dosh at present. I used to keep an eye out for 850 Coupe exhausts being scrapped due to the silencer box having rotted out (the 4 pipes and box are one piece), then I'd either repair the box by welding or weld a suitable replacement box onto the 4 pipes. Result - a 'performance' exhaust on the cheap.

Hi Al,

Hope you are keeping well.

The pipe I'm looking at is from the standard manifold down so there will be zero power enhancement. It might make a noise but that's about it. It picks up on the clamp where the standard silencer mounts.

Budgeting now is key, 600 project has skidded to a halt.

It will also not make the engine bay become hotter like the coupe type exhaust can do with extra pipework.

Tim

That is true, having read Gary's post over in 900 world less heat the better. Also with where the fuel filler cap is, more hot pipe work and a splash of petrol isn't welcomed at all

Tim,

I trust you are keeping well? I went with your tire size suggestion, a pal is going to fit them to the rims this week. Got a set of brand new/month old tires that a mate bought for a micra but road noise on a motorway drive him nuts, I'm not going to be doing 80mph nor am I going to be doing that much driving so €50 well spent.

You that has fitted these, what thread length did you go for on the lugs? Going to go to a motor factor tomorrow with a standard lug and see what they have in and around 4-5mm longer. There is a bite there using it's own but not enough.

Also got my exhaust, adds a nice hum and actually let's it exhale better! (y)
Thanks!
