Hi Guys,

I'm doing some mods to my A112 Elegant that has a 903cc engine. This is a A112A000 engine so pretty much standard 127 engine. Im not sure if the A112 engine is 45HP or 47HP version. I have not changed the camshaft but the car came with a twin exhaust downpipe and manifold this is also standard.

I have replaced the standard single choke carb with a twin choke DMTR (similar to 128coupe,x1/9s and others BUT with 22-22 choke sizes and unique inlet/outlet unions) and I have jetted it to a early 58Hp Abarth that has 982cc engine.
I am hoping for a increase of horse power but not to abarth standards.

I would like to get my car to 850sport coupe out puts of 52hp , so i need some info on carb jet and emulsion tubes sizes and what the camshaft timing to see if it is similar to the Autobianchi.

Hi Falgore

The 850 coupe 52hp engine turns anti clockwise so this will not directly work.

The engine you have as a 903cc will have a cam timing of about 242 degrees, you could either have another camshaft reground to the 850 coupe spec of around 256 degrees or probably best source a new a112 abarth cam for about £200 these standard have around 252 degrees. this would probably be around 50hp

Alternatively go for a higher performance one at around 280/290 degrees but there is no point going wilder than this with a twin choke carb, this would probably get to around 55hp but getting the compression up would help.

Hi Tim,
thanks on getting back to me .

Im not changing the engine as its in good condition. Its just some soft mods I'm doing at the moment .
Do you have the jet sizes and emulsion tube numbers , so I have a rough starting point for setting up the carb?

Hi Falgore

the standard a112 abarth 58hp jetting is probably the best source for you to start with, once youve run it for a while and retightened the head bolts then go for a rolling road tune.
