How on Earth do I drain the coolant? Is there a petcock?

It seems like it may need to drained through lower radiator hose but I can't seem to get it off.:bang:

It's a 2016 500X

General FIAT advice:

Buy a new worm.drive HoseClip

Then break off the factory one

Warm car.. (so hose becomes supple)..
Turn off engine.


A collecting bowl at the ready..
Give the hose a wriggle around.. break its bond with the radiator stub

Then once it has cooled pull the hose from the stub (pushing it back on partially to control flow )

Worth removing the coolant filler cap to aid flow once it slows


You can refill with tapwater and run up to warm again..
Then see how clear that is when dumped...

Then refill with a proper coolant


Dont forget.. there will be air pockets around.. opening the heaterhose bleed screws..and top of radiator..

Will help.. and it will 'burp itself' with use.. so do keep a 1 litre supply handy for top.ups in the next 1000 miles

That was exactly what I did and it worked.

I had to replace the oil cooler and I needed to drain the coolant anyway. I figured I might as well.
