Bought a second hand 500x 1.4 MultAir Lounge last year and it's now due a service. It's 4 years old and done around 55,000 miles.

Called local Fiat dealer and they say it's due a new timing belt; already??

Does anyone have any docs which say when Fiat recommend that major work like that it done?

I think my 1.6 diesel owners manual says to change it at 72000 miles.

I am around 67000 miles and my dealer suggested to replace it soon-ish.

The scheduled servicing plan in the Owner Handbook has the following for the 1.4 Turbo Multiair

Replace the toothed timing drive belt

Areas that are not dusty: recommended maximum mileage 120,000 km. Regardless of the mileage, the belt must be replaced every 6 years.

Dusty areas and/or demanding use (cold climates, town use, long periods of idling): recommended maximum mileage 60,000 km. Regardless of the mileage, the belt must be replaced every 4 years.

Here is the servicing plan for the 1.4 MultAir in full (taken from the Owner Handbook 08/2016 2nd edition)

If your vehicle came without a handbook it can be downloaded as a pdf from the Fiat eLUM site (registration required to login).

Personally I'd get it changed for peace of mind, I would go with the 4 years 40,000 miles recommendation, and get a water pump done,
