(G) 500X Tyre Life - Typically

I have 215 / 55 / 17 94V Continental EcoContact 5 tyres on all 4 wheels of my 500X. The rear tyres which have a made DOT of 26th week of 2016 have 5mm tread remaining. The front tyres have been changed by previous owner of which have a made DOT of 5th week 2019 have 7mm tread remaining.

How long do the rear and front tyres normally last, ( if not swapping front to back vice versa annually ), prior to changing ??

I have a 2.0 MJ 4x4. so the front end is a bit heavy. It currently has 57k on the clock. Typically, without rotation, I get 15-20k from the fronts but more than 35k from the rears, they just seem to go on forever.

Usual wear and tyre - they are not especially heavy on tyres but fronts wear more than the rears - Ours is approaching 50k (1.6 MJ) and we are on the 3rd set of fronts and 2nd set of rears although the original set were removed by the dealer as the first owner was a Rental company

My other half drives ours most of the time mainly a 19 mile round trip in mostly traffic to work and back, sometimes we do a longer trip at the weekend from London to Bristol, the rears last forever, we have the same tyres, I've only changed the rears as it had a nasty bolt go through one, that was at 31000 and I reckon there is still 4mm easy, the fronts are going to be changed before Winter and will probably do 35000 easy. I've just changed to premium contact which are a touch softer but not much,

Original rear tyres just got a advisory of cracks between the tread blocks on the MOT at 37k with 4mm tread left. Time to search out a deal on a pair of Conti EC5’s.

My 2016 AWD is on its original tyres at just under 25000 miles. The fronts will need replacing shortly, rear still have some life as they haven't been rotated regularly enough. As it's AWD I need to replace the whole set unfortunately

Me, fronts, about 15K miles with 4K towing 1000kg caravan so fairly reasonable. (not 4 wheel drive).

Same applies with rotations for me and 4WD

Found a pair of Conti EC 5's with DOT week 52 in 2019 for £130.00 delivered just to keep all four tyres same brand / type.

I got 2016 MJ 2.0 4x4. 22000 miles on the clock and the rear tyres are in perfect condition. I don’t see a reason to replace them. Just the front ones!!!

Problem on the 4WD you're supposed to rotate the tyres so they wear evenly. If you don't it's bad for the 4WD system

These are my rear tyres Mishelin pro pilot 4 manufactured and fitted 2016 originally with the car.

215/55/17 Continental s from new, replaced the fronts on 28k and I've just replaced all 4, the rears due to cracking between the treads on 52k. The rears still had about 3-4mm on them.
