We were out in our 500X MJ yesterday when the Check Engine Light came on/No S/S etc. Car appeared to go in to Limp mode as although I could drive it there was little acceleration. I pulled off to the side of the road and turned the engine off - waited 10 seconds then restarted. Lights/errors stayed on but car was then back to driving perfectly normal. Once we got back home I checked the Battery indicator on the dash (although did not do a Volt-meter test as none to hand.) Looked normal. I then disconnected the S/S additional battery cable for 10 seconds and reconnected and now all errors/lights have gone and car completely fine. It was absolutely chucking it down so I initially thought water? Me and my big gob recently saying our car has been faultless although as mentioned no issues at all again now! It was close to Zero degrees this morning where I live and car starts fine - S/S functions as usual. Thoughts?

I have had exactly the same issue twice on my 2.0 MJ. The first time was after a long, fast, hot run up a French Autoroute in 30+ outside temperatures. The second was after the car was parked outside the house overnight. Both cleared themselves and in neither case were any fault codes stored. Not had it again in about 2 years now.

Yes Alan - as a long time multi Italian owner - my other guessed option was ....'Its Italian!' Will keep my eye on it..... cheers
