My 66 plate cross plus was a cat S write off. I bought it salvage and repaired it. It needed a new wheel, front drivers wing, front and rear drivers side doors. It also needed a couple of wheel sensors and a new ABS pump/sensor. I sourced a second hand one from eBay and got a local garage to fit it.

It worked perfectly although the orange brake light symbol has been on the dash ever since? MultiECUScan to,d me there was a VIN mismatch. Now the first mot is due I thought I better get it sorted out as it will fail.

Took it to my local fiat stealer for them to do and they say it can’t be done. I have to have a new one which is then coded to the car.

The price, £1650. I was half expecting this though.

I’m pretty sure that the second hand one can be sent off and virginised as I’ve done that with other ECUs before. The car then just picks it up and codes to the car.

Gotta bite the bullet so I’ve left the car with them to do it.

Seems to be a growing trend to have random modules VIN matched, park brake modules on Meganes spring to mind. If it's just the pump or internal pressure sensor that are faulty then try swapping the old electrical module onto the replacement pump.

I took it to the Fiat Stealer. They said it had to have a new one. I know the old one can be virginised so I’ve got it back to sell. A new one was £1200 plus nearly £300 to fit. Bandits!
Wonder how much profit fiat make on parts like this?
I don't believe it actually cost anything like this price Per unit as the cars would never be profitable between abs pump engine/body ECu and other would be a few £k without any other parts

They had the cheek to call me the following day asking me about my experience. Would I recommend them “No, I would never recommend a main dealer as they are far too expensive” was my answer.

Ridiculous prices on spares.
