I tried to fit a double din Kenwood to my 500x using the correct kit but it was impossible to get the correct result, part because the standard fiat "screen" is attached to the single din chassis at an angle, part because there is not enough height for a double din to make adjustments in the housing hole.

I think this Alpine single din is the solution but the price...
What do you think? I quite like it.

I am thinking of buying the Alpine unit, i was not aware the the only maps available on tom tom are UK and the Vatican???!!!!. It might be cheaper to do the map upgrade through a Fiat garage but apart from that the Fiat unit offers not much more..

The map ugrade via Fiat is way cheaper. I was quoted approx £200, the problem with that is that there are 4 upgrades a year and whilst you don't need to buy every one ouch. I politely declined and went 7" Garmin for £160

I'm perfectly happy with everything about the Fiat unit apart from Nav, so Dash-top HD Garmin unit was the perfect solution for me, with free Map & Traffic updates for life.

Well if is £200 each time it is not cheaper than the Alpine unit, the Garmin solution is good as well, which Garmin do you have?

I managed to pick it up a lot cheaper than this but it's an excellent unit with more functionality than the Fiat unit

Looks good but not cheap as well. I might travel using my mobile for starters as i have unlimited data. The plan is to move to Germany, for the first 2 months i can use my mobile, after that charges apply. Let's see if Germany offers good unlimited packages as well.
If not Garmin will be the solution...i think[emoji846]

Each to his own,but I have no regrets. It sits comfortably on the dash above the Fiat unit and does much more than the Fiat Nav and 4 free map sets every year.

Might as well use a smartphone + Waze like I do. Great app, and it's free.

I'm using the built-in navigation only as a reassurance for already familiar routes, in silent mode.
